David Kilgour's Endorsement Letter

David Kilgour and Sinclair Stevens support a new progressive-centrist party, that seeks to defend human rights, and universal public healthcare in Canada. David Kilgour and Sinclair Stevens are both former Cabinet Ministers. David Kilgour is currently a Member of Parliament representing a federal riding in Edmonton, Alberta. Sinclair Stevens retired from active politics with the defeat of the Progressive Conservative government in 1993.

Here's what Sinclair Stevens presented about his apparent endorsement of a new federal political party as an alternative to the current reactionary political choices:

The Cosmopolite voice should be heard in Canada.

It is refreshing to be reminded that "The political leadership of the federal Tory party under Sir John A. Macdonald, championed Canadian Confederation in 1867."

It is encouraging to hear "Cosmopolites will continue to defend the values supported by Sir John A. Macdonald, in the pursuit of what Jean Talon, the first Intendant of New France referred to "Canada as a Great and Powerful State".

We should thank them for reminding us "The so-called nationalists, in Québec present their agenda for a separate Quebec based not substantively upon verifiable facts, but instead upon mythology. Their political agenda does not serve the interests of "nationhood" in Québec, but instead serves a racialist elite."

"These so-called "nationalists" are really just the extremists of the cadre of "provincialists", (that have tried to undermine Canada since Confederation in 1867), and who in their apparent provincialism, resort to the politics of divide and rule."

How reassuring it is to hear them proclaim "Ah oui.Canada is our nation, Québec is a province of that nation, as other provinces. As champions for that nation, we are not "Québec sovereigntists" but instead "Canadian sovereigntists"."

This is a message that should be taken to Alberta and British Columbia where the "Western Block Party" is currently seeking registration as a National Party in Canada with "The primary objective to create Western Canada as a free and independent nation".

When the Cosmopolitan Party calls for a stronger central government working with stronger municipal governments they should be heard.

It is a refreshing perspective.
