TV Guide calls this show "A Canadian masterpiece". New York Times makes representation that Da Vinci's is "...Unlike anything on television...".

In this show, Vancouver coroners, pathologists and homicide detectives inhabit a murky world as they attempt to solve the mysteries behind the unnatural, accidental, or suspicious deaths committed in the city's back alleys and bedrooms. At times selfless, at times grudging, they all have agendas and history, passion for their work, and ambition for their futures. Charismatic, controversial and mercurial Vancouver Coroner DOMINIC DA VINCI (NICHOLAS CAMPBELL) is the pivot around which this complex world spins.

Gemini Award-winner NICHOLAS CAMPBELL stars in DA VINCI'S INQUEST as the controversial Vancouver Coroner who, working with homicide detectives and pathologists, speaks for the dead to protect the living.

As a spokesman for the dead, DOMINIC DA VINCI strives to give dignity to untimely death. For every issue he champions, there is the underlying knowledge of human frailty, and a wry acknowledgment that his own personal and professional past is riddled with missteps.

The Downtown Eastside, a complex community at the core of the city, is at the heart of DA VINCI'S INQUEST and DOMINIC DA VINCI'S stomping ground. As a former undercover narcotics cop, he understands the realities of the street and the compromises cops sometimes make. He also knows the limitations that surround those who cut, collect, and expose the last secrets of a life lived, and the insights they can offer into death. He shares the dark humour that makes their collective work bearable, and their passion for unraveling the puzzle.

About the Show

A television crew is filming on the corner of Hastings and Main in the heart of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. A local resident asks a production assistant "what show's this?" "It's Da Vinci's Inquest," the P.A. replies. "Oh I know Dominic," the passerby says, and walks over to the series star, who is on a short break from filming. He chats for a while with the man he calls Dominic. Nicholas Campbell doesn't correct him.

There's always been an intertwining of facts and fiction on Da Vinci's Inquest. From the very first episodes in 1998, inspired by a case which is once again making headlines, to the establishment of North America's first safe injection site, and from current storylines which are just beginning to surface in the news, to the fact that the man whom inspired the creation of the title character is now the mayor of Vancouver, Da Vinci's Inquest is an integral and now inextricable part of the City of Vancouver.

Last season Da Vinci campaigned for police chief. In Season Seven, Da Vinci's political aspirations extend even further. "Will his ambitions lead to City Hall?," asks series creator and executive producer Chris Haddock.

Currently filming in Vancouver, the seventh season of DA VINCI'S INQUEST, Canada's most popular and critically acclaimed dramatic series.

Gemini Award-winner Nicholas Campbell heads Da Vinci's Inquest's ensemble cast that also includes Donnelly Rhodes, Ian Tracey, Venus Terzo, Kim Hawthorne, Alex Diakun, Sarah Strange, Sarah Jane Redmond, Kandyse McClure, Camille Sullivan, Colin Cunningham, Alisen Down, Emily Perkins, John Cassini, Brian Markinson, Gerard Plunkett and Stephen E. Miller.

Award-winning writer and director Chris Haddock is the series creator. Haddock and Laszlo Barna are Executive Producers. Laura Lightbown and Arvi Liimatainen are Producers, with Carwyn Jones Co-Producer. Gemini Award-winning writers Alan DiFiore and Haddock return with Jesse McKeown and Sylvia Leung. This season's slate of directors includes Stephen Surjik, Stuart Margolin, George Mihalka, Mina Shum and series leads Nicholas Campbell and Ian Tracey. Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell continues to serve as a consultant to the series.

A four-time Gemini Award winner for Best Dramatic Series, Da Vinci's Inquest has won over 35 industry awards and been twice nominated for the prestigious Banff Rockie Award as Best Continuing Series. Da Vinci's Inquest is broadcast in over 45 countries on the five continents and distinguished as Canada's top-rated dramatic series.

Da Vinci's Inquest is a Haddock Entertainment/Barna-Alper Production in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund, Telefilm Canada, the British Columbia and Canadian Film and Video Tax Credit. Alliance Atlantis distributes the program in Canada and internationally.
