Toronto Star champions pro-war interests

Toronto Star Before

The Toronto Star BEFORE. Pro-Canadian sovereignty, and socially progressive.

The Toronto Star used to be a passionate champion of Canadian sovereignty into the 1970's and toward the 1980's. The Toronto Star had been inspired by the leadership of Canadian nationalists like Walter Gordon, and by investigative journalists like Peter C. Newman. However, in more recent time, the Toronto Star has become a combination of the worst kind of vacuous "fluff" journalism, and crypto-right wing manipulation. Hiding behind a hypocritical public relations front of "liberality", the Toronto Star has become turned its back against its pro-Canadian inspired journalistic roots.

The Toronto Star has now become little more than a journalistic mouth-piece of Prime Minister Harper's sought extension of the U.S. political-military-industrial complex into Canada. This 'complex' seeks to remove the expenditure of public funding which is being made into the maintenance of universal healthcare, basic social services, education, environmental protection and other quality-of-living areas. Instead this 'complex' seeks to create weapons for use by elites in crusades of domination and oppression, toward the acquisition of oil and other resources.

The Toronto Star TODAY

The Toronto Star TODAY. Embraces U.S. George Bush's along with Prime Minister's Stephen Harper's reactionary view of the world. This includes a pro-U.S. Missle Defence editorial position, and related U.S. foreign policy objectives which are against Canada's national interest and vital sovereignty.

Our Retro Section pays tribute to the kind of journalism that the Toronto Star had championed, before that former great newspaper became taken over by apparent crypto-right wing reactionaries. The selected 'Retro' Section articles are appropriate to re-visit, in light of a worse threat against Canadian sovereignty that now exists.

It is vital that Canadians re-embrace their national identity in the face of the apparent traitors and Quislings among Canada's elites, that seek to sell out our country to the United States under Mr. Bush, with the support of a self-imposed media blackout. Newspapers that include today's Toronto Star; the National Post, as well as other CanWest newspapers, and the Quebecor-Sun chain of newspapers, are using their media fronts to destroy Canadian progressive social consciousness, toward their goal of assimilation by the United States.
