Stephen Harper confirms his Christian Smokescreen Pretensions

Conservatives Put Canada's Most Vulnerable on Chopping Block

Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The Liberal Opposition chastises the Conservative government for cutting $1 billion in funding that targets the most vulnerable Canadians, despite at the same time reporting a near-record surplus of $13.2 billion for 2005-06.

"The vindictive, mean-spirited cuts targeted at the weak, the needy, the vulnerable and the marginalized in Canada, could only have been dreamt up by the insider group of Conservative Mike Harris hold-over ministers in this government," said Liberal Leader Bill Graham. "Conservatives have continued their "them versus us" mentality. People without money or clout get clobbered by them. In a country as blessed as ours, how does the Prime Minister justify cuts to funding for immigrant youth, aboriginal women, adults with literacy problems, housing for the disabled and vulnerable workers?

"When the Liberal Party inherited the Government of Canada, we had a $42 billion deficit, and we managed it for the people of this country" Mr. Graham continued. "The Conservatives got a $13 billion surplus that they're squandering and they won't give a cent to poor people.

Mr. Graham further critically observes that "Why on earth is the Prime Minister eliminating research on the health of visible minorities, on child abuse, trafficking of women, support to voluntary group for soup kitchens and for training Canadians with disabilities? Aren't they Canadians, too? Don't they deserve value for their money?"

Liberals argue that the proposed funding cuts directly target women, Aboriginal Canadians, those in need of affordable housing and to other groups for which the Conservatives have traditionally shown little concern.

Chair of the Liberal Women's Caucus Belinda Stronach berated the Harper government for cutting $5 million from the Status of Women Canada.

"The government is gutting Status of Women Canada - the $5 million cut will mean it will have to deliver programs with 50 percent less money," Ms. Stronach said. "Minister of Canadian Heritage Bev Oda claimed last week that her government will 'make a difference in the lives of women.' Well, she has made a difference all right -- by devastating programs that help women participate fully in society.

"Why is this government anti-women? Or is it they simply don't care about the well being of 51 percent of the population?" she asked.

Liberal Critic Ruby Dhalla criticized the Conservatives for cutting spending for youth.

"Despite having a $13 billion surplus, the government is attacking Canada's young people, through program cuts to the Youth Employment Strategy - a program that helped 50,000 young people find work this past summer," Ms. Dhalla said. "In addition, the Conservative Minority government has also axed the Youth International Internship Program.

"Can the Minister of Human Resources explain to Canada's youth why she didn't bother to stand up to her bosses and tell them not to cut programs for young people?

Liberal MP for Churchill Tina Keeper, a First Nations Canadian herself, was appalled by the Conservatives' lack of concern for Canada's Aboriginal people.

"First, they slashed the Kelowna Accord without consultation," Ms. Keeper said. "Now they plan to eliminate the $11 million First Nations and Inuit Tobacco Control Strategy, again, without consultation.

"Surely this government doesn't believe they can please Conservative voters by sticking it to Aboriginal people. Why then are they dismantling a program which has the potential to save the lives of First Nations people, Inuit, and Métis?"

A report released late September 2006, by the Canadian Cancer Society found that cancer is quickly becoming the leading cause of death for Aboriginal Canadians.

While the Conservatives continually claim to be standing up for Canada, the truth is they are only interested in standing up for those who support their narrow policies: their core constituency of former "Reform Party" voters.

The only minority group the Conservatives are interested in supporting is the minority of Canadians who supported them in the last election.

Through this latest round of spending cuts, the Harper government has sent a message to Canadians: if you don't fit the profile of a potential Conservative voter, you are out of luck.

Mr. Harper as a "Christian Pretender"

The term "Pretender" can been used by various individuals, to mis-claim as association with a royal lineage, or with other affiliations, in order to anoint themselves power within certain constituencies. Russia was been historically well known for having pretenders who made claims to the former tsarist royal throne.

In Canada, Mr. Harper has continued this dubious tradition by campaigning on a platform supposedly inspired by Christianity. In fact. Mr. Harper has proven once again through the belligerent actions of his government against Canada's social fabric, that he is as a "Christian Pretender".

Mr. Harper shows that as a self-professed 'Christian' disciple of Jesus, he, like his "boss" Mr. Bush in the United States, is also a complete fraud.

Tommy Douglas, voted the "Greatest Canadian", who was a Baptist Minister, and devout Christian showed in the political areas, the spirit of a disciple Jesus. In contrast with Mr. Harper, Tommy Douglas defended the plight of poor; fought for women's rights; for the creation and affirmation of a universal healthcare system in the context of the affirmation of human rights. Mr. Douglas did this while balancing the budget, and earning even the respect and praise of U.S. financial institutions who had previously feared the spectre of "socialism" in Saskatchewan.

Mr. Harper on Christianity, could be viewed to be reminiscent of the fable the "Emperor with no Clothes". Mr. Harper's alleged political affinity for Christianity, is a fiction spread by elite owners of Canada's mass-media, who are trying to dumb-down the Canadian public, as the U.S. media has fooled Americans about Mr. Bush's alleged political affinity to Christianity.

Within their mis-representation on Mr Harper as a pious Christian which only means to do "good", the elites who own Canada's mass-media, and who have made themselves cheerleaders of the intrigues of the U.S. political-military-industrial complex, are trying to blind the diverse Canadian public,

Mr. Harper means to do "good" only to the various corporate interests, represented in part, by CanWest Global owners (that preside of newspapers that include The National Post, the Montreal Gazette, and the Ottawa Citizen) who helped fund his campaign. Mr. Harper has an agenda linked with crypto-fascist U.S.-led Globalization, which is anything but Christian.

Mr. Harper through his budget cuts against already suffering communities (that Mr. Graham critically elaborated), shows once more that he and his confederates, use Christianity as no more than a cynical "label" to cover-up the greed-driven agenda of his minority government. That government is being propped-up, by the likes of the NDP hypocrite Mr. Layton, and by the elites who own and use Canada's mass-media institutions from (CanWest Global to TorStar), and these operate as a public relations and apologist front for the Conservative Party agenda.

It is further apparent that Mr. Harper does not follow the teaching expressed in the Bible, on the vital ethic of social responsibility to each other and to our planet Earth. Instead, it is apparent that in Mr. Harper's seeks cuts in taxes for multi-millionaires in particular, who own the largest and most exploitative Corporations in Canada, while at the same time cutting more than a billion dollars from government support to disenfranchised. In so doing, Mr. Harper arguably serves the apparent "emissaries of the anti-Christ" who worship what the Bible referred to as Mammon.

It is unfortunate that many Canadians have mistaken Mr. Harper's agenda as being that of a devout Christian. His self-professed Christianity is nothing more than a "cover story". This apparent "cover story" is somewhat reminiscent of a criminal who tries to mislead others from within an ultimate hidden agenda.

It is apparent that Mr. Harper's agenda, is to destroy Canada's social fabric that had been championed by Tommy Douglas and by other Canadians. Mr. Harper with his U.S. Republican mentors, seeks to destroy and replace a Canadian cultural identity associated with peace and social justice.

However, you would not hear that type of observation from Canada's mass-media Establishment, (whose reporters are being apparently censored from covering this issue).

Mr. Harper and his confederates who are apparently seeking the annexation of Canada by the United States, are destroying Canada's social programmes in preparation of this planned annexation via a so-called "North American Union". This planned annexation is in 2007, according to reliable representation from Mr. Hurtig, the founder of the Council of Canadians, 'Vive Le Canada, 'Global Research' based in Montreal that operates under the learned auspices of a University of Ottawa Professor Michel Chossudovsky, and other independent research sources.
