NDPer exposes Jack Layton as failing to honour Tommy Douglas' legacy Political activist says minority government is currently Canada's best hope by C. R. Stormcrow
Having worked (paid) on several NDP leadership campaigns in the early 90's and had a chance to meet and get to know quite a few of the 'key' figures (Alexa, Jack, Bob R., and Buzz, too) as well as 'sit in' on certain meetings, I can only agree that the NDP are now so far away from Tommy Douglas that it would make most progressives choke. Somewhere along the line, various factions and families co-opted the movement and started playing self-destructive nepotistic games, directing jobs to family and friends, hijacking leaderships (Alexa, for gawd's sake... I mean, you've got to be kidding me!) and basically becoming everything they once despised.
Jack's a hack, Mr. Harper wants to corner Canada into becoming part of the U.S., and the Liberals are bound to flounder for some time to come. Until a real progressive returns, at the head of a real movement, our best bet is to keep on hoping for minority governments. Make comments about this article in The Canadian Blog. |
