Anne Golden Speaks at Innis College on Canadian Cities Compiled by Traci Lawson
The Urban Studies Program at Innis College in the University of Toronto is proud to announce that Dr. Anne Golden, President of the Conference Board of Canada, will be speaking on Canadian Cities in Innis Town Hall on March 30, 2007. Dr. Golden is well known for her urban scholarship and her public service. Before moving to the Conference Board, she chaired Toronto's United Way Campaign for 18 years. A recent report by the Conference Board entitled "Mission Possible: Successful Canadian Cities" acted to stimulate and galvanize discussion and debate at the recent Cities Summit Meeting held in Toronto. Dr. Golden's report on homelessness commissioned by Mayor Mel Lastman, recommended action by all three levels of government and continues to serve as a benchmark in the struggle to end homelessness. Dr. Golden chaired the Greater Toronto Area Task Force whose report became the foundation for re- structuring Greater Toronto as an urban region in an era of competitive global cites. Most recently Dr. Golden has become a leader in the campaign to obtain secure financing for Canadian cities. DATE AND TIME:
