Great Hard Rockin' from Canada's Blazing Elwoods by Brent Wohlberg
The Blazing Elwoods are a hard rockin band from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The band is comprised of Brent Elwood, (lead vox and guitar), Michael Elwood, (drums and vox), Peter Elwood, (keys and vox), Tim Elwood (guitar and vox) and Jay, Rachael and Michelle Elwood, (vox and percussion). Myself, Brent Elwood, is the principal songwriter and arranger for The Blazing Elwoods. He has been writing music since the late 1970's under his pseudonym Brent Wohlberg. Some bands Mr. Elwood has been involved with were Stone Cold, with the now infamous Bart Marcoux, NINE, Vic and the Meatkings, and the Fabulous Easterdogs. The Easterdogs were by far the most successful band that Brent had been apart of. From 1992 to 1998, they played Sudbury, Ontario's Townhouse, The Grotto, The International, The Elmocambo, The 360 Club, The Hoseshoe Tavern and Amigos in Hamilton. Fortunately, all the band members were decent, hard rockin' folk, and they quickly became a well liked and totally awesome band. In 1996 the band released their self titled CD, and had moderate success with college radio across Canada. They had a record deal with the now defunct label Cargo. Unfortunately due to work, families, pregnancies, and ice fishing, and more pregnancies, the Easterdogs slowly melted and dried up. This brings us to 2007 Brent Elwood assembled the Blazing Elwoods from local Ontario watering holes and ice fishing shacks. Brent said, "Ya gotta play and ya gotta sing to become blazing", and they did. The band has been workin' hard, and should be ready for their first show sometime in July, 2007. The Blazing Elwoods will not be releasing a CD. Any release will be made public, and downloadable at the www.theblazingelwoods.com, or LINK. The Blazing Elwoods choose to be environmentally smart, tree-hugger types, and most of all cheap. Brent hasn't bought or borrowed a CD now for at least 5 years, except for Tragically Hip CDs which he requests from his sexy stalking clad Santa Clause at Christmas. The songs will be available for free download at www.theblazingelwoods.ca as soon as the web page and the domain name are created. At this moment, 4 songs can be listened to and downloaded at www.myspace.com/theblazingelwoods. For more info please contact artifactmedia@sympatico.ca, and to listen to the songs.
