Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative to participate in 'Green Day' at the 2007 CNE Public can visit information booth and tour a waterfront wind turbine Edited by Peggy Chang TORONTO - Join the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC) at the CNE this year, and participate in renewable energy events. TREC will have an information booth located in the Music Building during CNE's 'Green Day' on August 21, 2007. The public can learn about TREC's pending projects funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This funding ($202,500 over 36 months) will assist TREC to continue to educate Toronto citizens and visitors about renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, as well as community based energy projects. TREC will also provide tours of its wind turbine, a waterfront and CNE landmark. Guided tours will depart from the base of the turbine, from Friday through to Sunday at 11am, 1pm and 4pm. The tours will run on the weekends of August 24 to 26 and August 31 to September 2. The tours will discuss the mechanics of wind power production and how wind energy can benefit your community.
"The Ontario Trillium Foundation grant was a critical factor that has enabled TREC to launch three new innovative and exciting educational initiatives," said Judith Ramsey, long serving TREC Board member and tireless renewable energy advocate. In 2008, TREC will launch Renewable Energy Bike Tours that will follow a route that showcases Toronto's advances in renewable energy technology such as EnWaves' deep lake water cooling system and TREC's wind turbine. The tours will also offer a taste of Toronto's unique waterfront culture. Early registration for the first 2008 tours will be accepted at the TREC booth.
