U.S. Bush administration positioning for catastrophic nuclear war against Iran in spite of UN report

Edited by Paul Chen

Iran’s uranium enrichment program is operating well below capacity and is far from producing nuclear fuel in significant amounts, according to a confidential U.N. nuclear watchdog report obtained by Reuters.

A senior Iranian nuclear official said the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) report showed U.S. suspicions about Tehran’s nuclear intentions were baseless. Officials familiar with the report said the IAEA could open future inquiries into Iran’s atomic activity if new suspicions arose, even after Tehran answers questions about the program under a transparency deal reached this month.

However, in spite of these findings, quoting official sources, "the Western media is now confirming, rather belatedly, that the U.S. Bush Administration's war plans directed against Iran are "for real" and should be taken seriously," the Centre for Research of Globalization reports. These reports also indicate that so-called "Punitive bombings directed against Tehran could be launched within the next few months."

It is apparent that the Bush administration is attempting to pursue the similar path of fabrication on alleged "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (WMDs), that was associated with the pre-emptive War against Iraq that violated international law.

It appears that the U.S. Bush administration is following the same kind of military fascist agenda based upon lies and deceit, which was the hallmark of Adolf Hilter's own expansionist agenda during World War II. Indeed, supporters of the Bush administration has been linked to Nazi sympathizers who had supported the expansionist goals of Adolf Hilter during World War II.

Professor Michel Chossudovsky indicated in “Bush Administration War Plans directed against Iran” that was published 16 September 2007, indicates that the diplomatic mode in the U.S. government has been substantively switched off: "The Pentagon is said to be "taking steps to ensure military confrontation with Iran" because diplomatic initiatives have allegedly failed to reach a solution." Professor Michel Chossudovsky is the chief coordinator for the Centre for Research on Globalization.

"These diabolical statements come within barely a couple of weeks following the release of the IAEA report." The Centre confirms unequivocally that Iran's nuclear program is of a civilian nature and that Iran has neither the intention nor the capabilities to develop nuclear weapons:

Article IV (1): These modalities cover all remaining issues and the Agency [meaning IAEA] confirmed that there are no other remaining issues and ambiguities regarding Iran's past nuclear program and activities.

Article IV (3): The Agency's delegation is of the view that the agreement on the above issues shall further promote the efficiency of the implementation of safeguards in Iran and its ability to conclude the exclusive peaceful nature of the Iran's nuclear activities.

Article IV (4): The Agency has been able to verify the non-diversion of the declared nuclear materials at the enrichment facilities in Iran and has therefore concluded that it remains in peaceful use. (IAEA Report, italics added)

The Centre for Research on Globalization indicates that, at the same token, the IAEA report is a slap in the face for Washington. It confirms the lack of legitimacy and criminal nature of U.S. foreign policy as well as Washington's resolve to violate international law:

Peter Symond who represents Global Research indicated in September 2007 that "The Bush administration’s abrupt dismissal of last Thursday’s IAEA report is one more sign that Washington has no interest in a diplomatic resolution to its confrontation with Tehran. Following Bush’s bellicose denunciations of Iran last week, the US has reiterated its intention to push for tougher UN sanctions against Tehran this month."

No Public Outcry

The Centre for Research on Globalization indicates that despite the overtly aggressive nature of U.S. statements, these war plans directed against Iran, which in a real sense threaten the future of humanity, are not the object of public concern or debate. A U.S sponsored pre-emptive war, using thermonuclear weapons is not apparently front page news relative to issues concerning a Hollywood actor, or some other kind of topic.

The dangers of a broader Middle East war have been downplayed or ignored by the main anti-war coalitions, which suggest infiltration by ultra-right interests. The proposed use of nuclear weapons in a conventional war theatre is not a matter for apparent critical debate.
