U.S. Bush administration allegations that Iran is sending missiles to Iraq appears to be War Propaganda

by Peter Tremblay

The U.S. military accused Iran on Sunday of smuggling surface-to-air missiles and other advanced weapons into Iraq for use against American troops. However, such accusations appear to be hearsay, designed to further demonize Iran, to legitimate the another pre-emptive military strike against a Middle Eastern country.

Each and ever day, the cult of war that appears to dominate Bush administration's foreign policy appears to be creating interesting stories designed to rationalize military expansionism and power. The use of the mass-media to spread propaganda is by no means a new technique. Indeed, Nazi Germany uses media allies to create all kinds of fabrications about the Jewish, and other conspiracies, in order to legitimate declarations of war.

The Associated Press (AP) reports, for example, that "Military spokesman Rear Adm. Mark Fox said U.S. troops were continuing to find Iranian-supplied weaponry including the Misagh 1, a portable surface-to-air missile that uses an infrared guidance system."

AP also reports that, "Other advanced Iranian weaponry found in Iraq includes the RPG-29 rocket-propelled grenade, 240 mm rockets and armour-piercing roadside bombs known as explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, Fox said."

In a democracy, the mass-media has a responsibility to use their vast access to contacts and financial resources to distinguish between facts and mischievous allegations designed to intentionally deceive the public. The problem is that U.S. Bush administration and associated military spokespersons representations about Iran are being taken as the absolute truth, when this same group has already demonstrated its tendencies to "stretch the truth", in relation to their Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) fictions about Iraq.

Unfortunately, the U.S. mass-media continues to apparently make itself to be simply the delivery mechanism for Bush administration partisan representation, on a reported course of rationalized nuclear war against Iran, which is a Russian ally.

Indeed, most Americans have not been properly informed that Iran is a Russian ally. Iran belongs to a Russian military sponsored alliance, and any nuclear bombing of Iran by the U.S. would invite nuclear retaliation by Russia, and its allies.

Russian President Vladimir Putin seem to be determined to "draw the line" against apparent U.S. aspirations to "encircle Russia". Russia allowed that to happen during Nazi Germany, which led to over 20 millions Russians getting killed, and Mr. Putin and other Russian leaders have shown great concern about not wanting history to repeat itself.

Independent scholarly sources of information about Iran, including the Centre for Research on Globalization have clearly shown that the administration's representation about Iran appears to have no more integrity than the reported tendency of some police officers to frame-up suspects, in order to legitimate pre-established agenda to arrest.
