Political consultant suggests that the NDP could win over 30 Quebec ridings in the next Federal Election

Edited by Peggy Chan

MONTRÉAL - Following a strong show of support in the recent Quebec by-elections, NDP Leader Jack Layton and NDP MP-elect Thomas Mulcair (Outremont) spent the morning after the by-election mainstreeting and thanking voters in Outremont.

“People in Outremont sent us a clear message yesterday: they want peace, they want a cleaner environment and they want leadership and fairness,” said Mulcair. “The election campaign is over, but my work is just beginning. Quebecers are now standing with the NDP and together, we can fight to take on the growing prosperity gap.”

Mr. Mulcair and Mr. Layton held a press conference today in Outremont.

“Outremont voted for change. They told us that they can't trust Stephen Harper and that the Bloc is no longer an option, they simply can't get things done for Quebecers,” said Layton. “We worked hard to elect Thomas to the House of Commons and we know he's going to be bringing Outremont’s priorities to Ottawa.”
