Green Party promises Ontario voters sustainability through tax shift and incentives

Edited by Iain Mackenzie

Green Party of Ontario Leader Frank de Jong promises Ontarians a sustainable future and a better quality of life by shifting taxing and offering incentives, and invited Ontarians to learn more about Green policies.

“The Green Party’s campaign platform addresses a wide range of issues that Ontario residents care about, such as education, energy, health, agriculture, northern development, democratic renewal and local communities,” de Jong said. “We want voters to know that our platform extends far beyond protecting the environment.”

“While most governments treat each issue as a separate problem, the Greens’ integrated approach recognizes that all these issues are inextricably linked. Our economy, our environment, our health and our local communities all depend on each other, and we all depend on them.”

The Green Party of Ontario’s social, economic and environmental policies establish the foundation for a green and sustainable future that balances Ontarians’ needs, without spending more money, but by shifting priorities, taxes and spending.

“When other parties say that it’s time for change, they mean that it’s their turn to be in power and do what they usually do,” de Jong said. “When the Green Party says it is time for change, we mean that it is time for this province to change fundamentally the way it does business.

“We support the right of all taxpayers to get all the information about an issue, to be involved in its resolution through citizens’ assemblies, to receive incentives for doing the right thing, and to know when they’re doing the wrong thing.”
