Canada now has a new vivacious cultural ambassador. Jayde Nicole was recently announced as Playboy's 2008 Playmate of the Year. Shannon Tweed was the last Canadian to claim the title in 1982. The Canadian had the pleasure of having an exclusive interview with Port Perry born Jayde Nicole. We scheduled this interview to take place at Caffé Demetre in Toronto's Greektown -- the largest in North America. We thought that she would enjoy the fantastic ice cream there, and our intuition proved to be right on. During our interview, Jayde eloquently described her national pride, as a Canadian winner of Playboy's international title.

She, and Charlee Beer, one of her congenial models and friend, also enjoyed what they both described, without hesitation as "the best ice cream" that they ever tasted, at Caffé Demetre. But, more on that later.

Having nationalistic pride, Jayde does not plan to take-off to the States, but fully intends to affirm her Canadian roots. This includes her ties to her family and hometown, as well as professionally, and through charitable causes. Jayde Nicole has had great leadership is raising more and more money for Sick Kids, as one of her prime charitable campaigns.

Don't think for a moment that that Jayde Nicole is only about good looks, and the other stereotypes associated with professional models. She is a woman of conviction, who aims to use her Playboy title to pursue a variety of goals. These include seeking to break records in fundraising for vital charitable campaigns, which include sick kids as well as for HIV-AIDS.

Jayde Nicole is also the founder and owner of a new modelling agency called Jayde Nicole Inc. Through her modelling agency, Jayde Nicole hopes to inspire a new generation of similarly intelligent models, who are attractive from the inside, rather than being mostly "pretty faces". Jayde seeks confident “girls next door” to join her modelling agency.

Jayde Nicole, seeks to bring together women off all 'shapes and sizes', in a spirit of quiet rebellion against the stereotype, that female models ought to be super thin. Many women who aspire to become a model, have to often pursue unhealthy diets, and lifestyles in general. Jayde also alluded to many women who do lead a successful career, but who often have harsh personas, which may, in fact, reflect the harsh lifestyles which many models endure. Jayde who talked about receiving extremely high marks throughout her schooling, is making herself a positive female role model in the modelling industry, and as a human being. Jayde has indeed become a successful business woman, with the launching of business ventures in her early 20’s.

Jayde also has a fitness book coming out soon, a reality show, and was on the cover of Today’s Bride and American Curves magazines.

Jayde who strives for a healthy lifestyle, also loves beach volleyball.

Jayde Nicole also commented on what in her view is Playboy’s tastefully artistic presentation of nudity, which in her view, is not degrading to women. Many feminists have indeed also been apparently indoctrinated to lambaste any female nudity as being patriarchical “objectification”. The mentality of these feminists can perhaps be illuminated using George Orwell’s book entitled ’Animal Farm‘, in which the oppressed characters launched a revolution, in which they ultimately became the oppressors.

Feminist scholars too often seem to flirt with fascism, and emulate the oppressive patriarchical mentalities that they supposedly seek to challenge. Jayde says that she has received a plethora of positive comments about her Playboy photos, which includes support from her Mom, who was at first very hesitant about her daughter’s Playboy plans before she saw the photos.

  Adam Sandler

Jayde Nicole is a big fan of Adam Sandler.

What kind of movies do you think that Jayde likes? Well, if you guessed “chick flicks”, romantic comedies, or something like that, you would be wrong. She prefers action and horror movies. Jayde is also a great Adam Sandler fan. And, if Adam Sandler or one of his agents in reading this article, Jayde mostly definitely be interested in having some role in one of your movies. So, Adam, get with the programme and holla.

Jayde during our interview also remarked that she is vegetarian. At Caffé Demetre the place of our interview, Jayde tried the Peanut Butter Overload ice cream. Charlee, tried the Mint Chocolate Chunk ice cream. If you are ever along the Danforth in Toronto’s Greektown, you might wish to check out these ice cream flavours, for your own opinion. Or, alternatively, try another flavour, that you might prefer. Indeed, even though it was before their dinner, both Jayde and Charlee could not resist savouring what I was once also told, by an ice cream and chocolate connoisseur from Germany that I also introduced to Caffé Demetre, that it was the best ice cream he and his group had ever tasted.

Caffé Demetre has been described as offering perhaps the largest home-made ice cream menu in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. Caffé Demetre Artisan Ice Cream is made fresh daily in each location. That makes Caffé Demetre, a great after-dinner stop in Greektown, in downtown Toronto.
