| British Columbia doctor says localizing food production away from Globalization, would decrease disease outbreaks Special to The Canadian DUNCAN, B.C.(CP) - Vancouver Island Health Authority's medical health officer says people might not be dying from consuming mass-produced food items if food was grown and eaten locally. And, says Dr. Lorna Medd, that applies not only to Canada but also to the rest of the world. She says localizing food systems would decrease the scope of disease outbreaks that have been seen in recent years. Medd's comments came after it was revealed that a 64-year-old man had died at Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, B.C., after contracting Listeria. There are 17 cases of Listeria confirmed across Canada. Four people have died. Make Comments about this article in The Canadian Blog.
