| Stephen Harper seeks to call election to thwart NAU becoming a federal election issue later Edited by John Stokes Canada's Liberal opposition leader Stephane Dion says his country will hold a general election after a meeting with Premier Stephen Harper. "I am convinced that he wants to have an election," Dion says. When asked by reporters if an election would take place in the coming days, Dion said, "Yes, yes there will be an election. We all know it." Harper, whose Conservative Party won a minority government in January 2006, has made it clear that he thinks an election is the only way to fix what he sees as a dysfunctional parliament. However, polls suggest that the Conservatives will not likely gain a majority. It is apparent that the Harper is seeking to call an election to thwart the possibility of the NAU becoming an election issue. More and more documents that to Mel Hurtig and others, have been leaking to Americans and Canadians about the NAU agenda. Make Comments about this article in The Canadian Blog.
