| Video: Labour leaders prove Stephen Harper government conceals NAU agenda in federal election by Paul Chen According to Stephen Harper, his government is not pursuing a "deep integration" merger with the United States in the form of a North American Union (NAU). But Freedom of Information documents retrieved by Mel Hurtig and other investigators reveal that this statement lacks integrity. Canadian labour leaders in Vancouver revealed that U.S. branch plants in Canada among other large corporations, and the U.S. George W. Bush administration are pursuing secretive talks with the Stephen Harper government on the NAU. The North American Competitiveness Council that operates under the direction of the U.S. Secretariat of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) reports directly to the U.S. Bush administration, and the driving architect of the reactionary NAU construct. It is apparent that there has been a collective decision among elites of Canada's major parties, under the apparent direction of U.S. Republican Party interests, not to make the NAU an election issue.
