| Gerald Kennedy's time as Liberal statesman has arrived against NAU-supporting Stephane Dion by Dr. Réjean Pelletier
It is about time that the Liberals face up to a federal election that seems to be designed to coronate a Stephen Harper Conservative Party majority government. If Liberals have an interest in taking control of this election, the federal party's current leadership must resign, in favour of a new provisional campaign committee under the auspices of an interim leader. It is apparent that Gerald Kennedy who had run for the Liberal Party leadership, is the only Liberal Member of Parliament fit for the job. Gerald Kennedy expresses the kind of Liberalism, which is at the root of Canada's national identity as a progressive society. In contrast, it is apparent that Stephane Dion neither seeks to champion on Canadian values as other Liberal leaders, in defence of party traditions. That might help guarantee that Mr. Harper after a planned Conservative Party majority win, would recommend Mr. Dion for a political appointment by the architects of the North American Union; but what does that do for Canada? As Paul Hellyer has warned, it is Goodbye Canada, if Mr. Harper and his apparent side-kick, Mr. Dion get their way. There are numerous issues including the North American Union (NAU) agenda, that Stephane Dion could be using to win this election. Instead, he engages in apparent insincere rants, that seem to be designed to limit any damage to the prospects of a Conservative Majority government. Somewhat ironically, the National Post that is owned by Conservative Party backers, exposed Stephane Dion's pattern of making these rants in front of the camera, then coercing Liberal members to vote with the Conservative Party. In effect, the National Post observed, Stephane Dion allowed Mr. Harper to preside over a de facto Conservative majority. Having backed out of numerous opportunities to defeat the government, including over Afghanistan "War for Oil", Stephane Dion has now allowed Mr. Harper to call an election on his own government's terms, with Mr. Dion's credibility as an Opposition Party leader totally destroyed. It is apparent that the Canadian federal election was prompted by Stephen Harper, seeking to take pressure away from Stephane Dion having to prepare to deliver insincere rhetoric against the Stephane Harper government, that Mr. Dion had no intent of enforcing. A Stephen Harper majority government, would allow Mr. Harper to openly expedite the destruction of Canada, in favour of NAU reforms inspired by the U.S. political-military-industrial complex. The Stephane Dion Liberals, could then not be put in the position anymore of threatening to topple a right-wing government over policies that the Liberal party ought to be thwarting. It is apparent that Mr. Dion (along with a circle of other party elites) is a Trojan Horse, on behalf of neo-conservative NAU interests.
When Gerald Kennedy ran as the Liberal party leader, he seemed to embrace "Pearsonian and Trudeau liberalism". His convictions as the only apparent sincere Liberal who ran for the leadership, came out in his conviction to facilitate Canada "having an independent voice and an independent perspective" in foreign policy from the United States. It was Mr. Kennedy who demanded Canada transform its current belligerent combat role in support of the U.S. military in Afghanistan, back into a peacekeeping role in support of quality-of-living civil society objectives for the Afghani people. Gerald Kennedy has also championed anti-poverty areas, in relation to traditional Liberal party convictions on social responsibility, that have been absent from Mr. Dion's capitulation to a right wing agenda against Canada. If Mr. Kennedy is indeed a sincere Liberal, in the traditions of Nobel Peace Prize winner former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, and former Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau who rallied Canadians against the Meech Lake Accord, Mr. Kennedy will seize the moment, and warn Canadians about the NAU. Mr. Kennedy's time to shine has arrived. This election will truly be the test of Mr. Kennedy's sincerity and level of integrity. Will he follow in the footsteps of Great Canadians like Tommy Douglas who stood up against the U.S. corporate lobby, that sought to destroy the fulfillment of our national destiny. Or, will Mr. Kennedy show that he too has sold his soul for a mess of pottage?
