| Thwart worsening Financial Crisis through replacing the "Bread"-based predatory Economy: Part V by Horace Carby-Samuels, Economist
Persons are socialized entities, and that socialization conditions how they will understand their world, and even themselves. Meanwhile, how persons manage their time, is an important decision that they respectively make as they pursue the business of living. It is important to recognize that, a voluntary decision on the part of individuals, to reject suicide as an efficient choice, is also a strategy of time-use-management commitment, that they respectively make. Recall, therefore, that substantively, as mind-guided technology-using and technology-creating entities, humans are essentially managers of the time for living that becomes accessible to them. Humans as technology-using mind-guided entities, see the time-space which is available to them, as a resource, which offers to them the opportunity to execute choices. Furthermore, respective humans aim to use those choices of time use commitments, to give substance to themselves. However, in recognition of their mortality and of their limited time for living, persons are not obsessed with committing their time so as to secure market capability, as more financial-equivalent “bread”. However, they recognize that their access to the resources and to the outputs from their natural environment, will also be subject to the prevailing political tolerances in the environment at hand. Indeed, the capitalist socialization not only emphasizes the achievement of net financial-equivalent results, as being the outcome that humans seek, but capitalist societies are also structured so that humans need to acquire private quantities of money, if they are to acquire the wherewithal to survive. Humans within that politically structured survival routine, are thereby effectively distracted from their mind-guided dictate, to enhance their Consciousness (of themselves and of their existential reality), as the gateway to their achieving a higher quality-of-living. The capitalist imputation, is that the effective (scientifically verifiable) indicator of the results which humans secure from the economic/scarcity-management commitment of their time and other resources, is indicated by the forthcoming (mathematically) expected net increments in financial-equivalent gain (“bread”). However, that capitalist imputation, as to what comprises the effective economic result, is a disingenuous ruse. That capitalist measurement ruse, is intended to distract humans from recognizing their substantiveness, as survival-centred mind-guided entities. In the ensuing socialization, the result of that capitalist-promoted distraction, is that humans are led to neglect to give weight to outcomes other than market results. Outputs such as the generation of cordiality and of mutuality with each other, and with the environment, are treated as being unimportant. That is because capitalists are concerned with the net generation of financial-equivalent results, and do not construe these other results, as critical resource/economic management achievements Accordingly, in continuance of the living-centred distraction, capitalists argue that “science” supports the imputation that the economic behaviour of persons is indicated primarily by the market success of their activities (as grubbers after acquiring more money). However, that “science”-supported appraisal/imputation, is primarily a promotional tactic. That capitalist-promoted appraisal and measurement tactic, also aims to foster distraction of humans from the role of Consciousness, in stipulating what designates achievement. Instead, capitalism aims at the eventual diminution of Consciousness, and to instead lead to behaviour patterns in people where they operate more as manipulable money-grubbing instruments. Additionally that capitalist “science-legitimated appraisal tactic (regarding how the outcomes from resource management should be weighed), aims to denigrate the existential appropriateness and the nobility of Consciousness-linked achievement among humans. However, (in recognition of their mortality) that enhancement of awareness, and of Consciousness, has substantively also been an achievement at which humans (over the eons that accommodated the evolution of our sentience), have also historically aimed the management and commitment of their efforts. Meanwhile, the cultivation of mutuality is an economic management outcome that societies (which aim to foster a high quality-of-life) must facilitate. However, most of us humans are born as individual and discrete units; and we subsequently go through an extensive period of being nurtured, prior to becoming functionally independent. There is also the fact that under the impetus of mind, we also usually come to recognize that co-operation and interaction within a group, stimulates widened understanding that offers technological potential, which then leads to enhanced efficiency in time-use strategies. Our comprehension and accommodation to those linkages, therefore tends to compensate for the effective personal separateness which typically accompanies our birth circumstance. Persons therefore come to understand themselves as being a part of an environmental whole, to which their survival is also linked. It is therefore no intellectual “stretch” to move from that type of enhanced awareness of our group dependence, and to then arrive at correspondingly group-linked focus, on appraisals of our resource allocative performance. In particular, we need to recognize that our efforts are directed at building up an existential self (with which we are comfortable). These efforts are not necessarily aimed at building ever burgeoning financial-equivalent portfolios, as capitalist indoctrination pitches. As a result, the essay entitled, “Existential Masonry: A Rejection of the Capitalist Focus on Quality-of-living”, (which was published online in The Canadian , July 2008); was a departure from that indoctrination. Instead, it was framed in recognition of that need for individuals as well as societies, to make appraisals of resource allocative performance, within the context of the mind-guided evolutional thrust in which humans are engaged.. In particular, that essay presented persons as operating from a naturally occurring reference environment, which formed “a home base” in light of which, as Conscious entities, they framed a mind-guided appreciation or bonding. That bonding which they were respectively seen as framing, was seen as then providing a reference focus which then allowed the particular person to construe his/her interaction with the reference environment, in terms of the operating whole, to which that environment is linked. Market-centred trading, was therefore emphasized/construed as being but one set of the operations in which humans engage, in behalf of achieving the type of material survival, where they also accommodate to the operating presence of mind. It is useful to note, for example, that in native cultures (where the capitalist norms of fraternal predation, and legitimated deceptive commercial advertising have not been imposed by European colonization), humans have sought to accumulate the sort of information that allows them to frame a bond with the evolution of their natural environment. In addition, members of these communities can be observed pursuing ways of living, that are characterised by mutuality with each other, (rather than by the systematic pursuit of inter-personal predation and exploitation that capitalism advocates and practices).
In a society that uses capitalist-sponsored educational programming, to propagandize its citizens to gauge the success of their effort-commitments, in terms of the quantity of ‘bread’ (in the form of financial-equivalent results) that they secure the existentially-centred mental liberation, which accompanies activities that are supportive of a high quality-of-living, is not likely to evolve . Rather, the access of the persons in a society to a high-quality-of living, is likely to happen, only when time-use activities which are consistent with enhanced understanding of the natural environment, are accessible to the persons who make up a society. Therefore, members of the society will need to be socialized to understand that their mind-guided survival, is linked to their willingness to access and to apply in their daily living, critical information about how their natural environment functions. Persons who have been exposed to that type of environmentally-focussed socialization, will intuitively recognize that their time-use management also represents a component of their targets in timeless survival. They will therefore without hesitation recognize that, chasing after”bread”, involves only a limited imperative in the living that they do; just as our “friend” Satan, had been reminded.
