| Romancing the Mind Love is the Word by Stephen Skie February, according to yours truly, is considered the month of love. Why - you may ask. Just look around. It is easy to see the numerous stores displaying gifts and cards for that special someone. And if you are fortunate enough to reside in Ontario, there is even a specific day set aside to spend quality time with the ones you love. Aside from the popular Valentine’s Day festivities, the cold days of winter are often the reason people escape to warmer climates. A week or two based on nothing other than pleasurable activities is certainly something to love. For others, it can be a romantic evening by the fireplace, or an enjoyable day taking in all the beauty this time of year has to offer. No matter what the preference is, an enjoyable escape is medicine for the soul. Perhaps, all the above are ways of fighting off the February blahs, yet, I beg to differ. Spending time with the ones you love and doing the things you enjoy certainly spawns an amorous vibe. Something humanistic in nature. One that is separate to the common romantic allure of the springtime. No matter how you look at it, taking the time to appreciate friends and family while amercing ourselves in such activities supports this notion clearly. Love is in the air. It is much warmer than what is greeting us Canadians outdoors at this precise moment. Yet, February has much to offer. It is only now when one can begin to really notice the longer days of daylight. This month is also the shortest of them all, and for those who are desperately waiting for the warmer days of summer to arrive, then, this is truly something to appreciate. Let’s not forget, February is also host to the famous Ground Hog Day. Finding the silver lining on any cloud always makes things seem brighter. February is the only month in the year that encompasses numerous none religious events to make us feel better. Think about it. Valentine’s Day, Family Day, and Ground Hog Day are all free for anyone to enjoy, no matter what your creed or background maybe. If this is not an expression of love, then, I don’t know what else is.
February is also the month that has spawned this possible ongoing relationship. Yes, yours truly is grateful for the opportunity to share this, and many more perspectives to come, via the The Canadian. I could not think of a better time of year start such a relationship. The ability to share something one loves doing is indeed something to cherish. It may seem irrelevant to some, yet, being grateful for the small things provides numerous opportunities to smile throughout the day. To me, the simplest form of love is the appreciation of what we have. Being grateful always seems to warm the heart. If you do not believe me, test it out yourself. Think about something that you are grateful for. Relish in the enjoyment of it for at least eighteen seconds. I promise you, that if this is done with sincerity, there will be a warm feeling within. And that my friends, is the simplest form of love. Go to The Canadian TV, linked to Janine's Pledge Video SOCIALIZE: Stop the North American Union (NAU) agenda. Become a Member.
