The Canadian National Newspaper: U.S. government, and not BP is responsible for Oil Spill clean-up

The Barack Obama administration has been suggesting to the American public, and to the world in general, that British Petroleum (BP) and its agents are totally responsible for the physical clean-up of the Oil Spill. However, that is apparent sophistry.

The U.S. government has jurisdiction over coastal waters and has the fiduciary responsibility to use whatever military and other technological resources at its disposal to redress the problem.

This includes the use of the U.S. Navy which has the technical capability to deal with this very spill.

The U.S. government could then simply bill BP and its agents for the costs of the military-led effort. However, instead of providing leadership on this vital issue, it is apparent that the Obama administration is engaged in some sort of cyncial charade with BP.

BP has the money but not the technical competence to deal with this Oil Spill and that has become evident.

The Oil Spill demonstrates that the Obama administration's professings to be an agent of progressive social change is an apparent strategy aimed at deceiving the American public.
