The Canadian National Newspaper: Save our Students from Student Loans Predators

It's a "RING OF SCANDAL" The government, the banks and the collection agencies. They are all into it together. They target young students for profits even before they graduate.. The Banks and the Government are looking for profits, probably to pay off their own scandals.. The collection agencies is an outlet for the Government and the Banks to collect these profits. They hound, they bully, and threatened... They all set out to mutilate and cripple a young student, both financially and mentally before they have a chance to take that first step in life.

How did a nation like Canada get caught in the CORRUPTION of our young people?? What about their future????????????...OH.. MYY.. G-D

Those young people come in this forum with a knot in their 'gut' and a tear in their eye, and their hand out pleading, confused and lost and wondering what they did so wrong. They come in this forum for support and a shoulder to cry on, because there is no help out there for them. Our own Canadian government and the Banks turned their backs on them all. The Government and the Banks force them to an underground community, for all in the name of profits. It makes me sick, all those young people wanted to do was to get an education, so they can have a decent quality of life. AND to have the Government and the Banks strip them of their dignity, their pride, and to have most of them live a life of poverty, is nothing less then SHOCKING.

My daughter Jennifer, got caught in this vicious cycle of crime and corruption. The hounding and harassing started while she was still in College. They were told over and over that she was still in College, but the hounding and the harassing didn't stop. They were harassing and demanding money from Jennifer, even while she was writing her final exams. I asked several times, how could she pay them anything, when she was still in College and never in her life had the time or opportunity to hold down a full time job. She have been in school since she was five years old. It fell on deaf ears, not ONE of them would listen.

We have pleaded Jennifer's case to 350 politicians, and the response was, 'take it to some other department'. Now Jennifer is left with hefty loan payments and a Credit rating that bad, she cannot even put her name on any loan paper. She cannot get a car, she cannot have a phone, she cannot have an apartment, the list goes on and on.. All because they said she deserved it, so they decided to pack on thousands and thousands of dollars in INTEREST on her student loan and they destroyed her Credit rating. All this happened while she was still in College. I might ask,, What did this young person do so wrong to deserve all this? I am confused too.. How corruptive is a country like Canada becoming? All Jennifer wanted was to get an education, become independent and live a productive life and make Canada a better country to live in.

This ''RING OF SCANDAL'' has to stop or there will be NO future for our young people. Why any interest on Student Loans ? Why any penalty imposed while in College?. I will remind you ,those students are not working... they are getting educated!!!!!!.. Those young people are our future. Stop the mutilating, stop the crippling before they have a chance to get started in life. Give them a chance, for heaven sakes!!!!

There are bureaucratic errors, and there is Government negligence on scale so vast that it is hard to believe that they can be accidental, one example is the targeting students for profits even before they graduate. This is pure profits for the Government and the Banks that have taken advantage of a loophole in the law.

Families across Canada are struggling to pay for college for their Children. They all agree college education is far to expensive for many families. You would think the Federal Government would be doing everything possible today to make college more accessible for all our families. Sadly, that is not the case. Instead of standing up for students, unfortunately the Government stood up for the Banks of Canada, that have been gaming the system for years, at Students expense.

Student Loan programs were started to help our students. They were not started to line the pockets of lenders. It is time to end students rip-off that is occurring today and do more to help our students afford college. Some of those students, when they enter the workforce, will barely make the interest payments, and NOTHING on the principal of the loan, therefore crippling them financially for the rest of their lives. Its shameful.

Jennifer had two student loans, one from the RBC and a smaller loan from CIBC. The Provincial Government agreed to pay off the CIBC loan. The principal borrowed from CIBC was $8851.00. The Government is demanding a payment of $120.00 a month for 15 years. The amount she will be paying is $21,600. A difference of 12,749. (Twelve thousand and seven hundred and forty nine dollars) will line the pockets of the lenders, just for profits....

To 350 leaders of the people!!...When you made the commitment that No Child be Left Behind, we thought you were including all children. When the Government committed to Medicare, you didn't say you were are going to leave some senior citizens out, you said all seniors. When you made a commitment to voting rights, you said voting right for all Canadians. When you made your commitment to all children in this country, you said all children..

My question is, how can this be disputed? Its unacceptable, the government is failing thousands and thousands of Students and continue to look to satisfy their own special interest, by lining the pockets of the lenders. Just have a look at their own Scandals that is going on. They cover it up by calling it a clerical error and such. What about our Students?? Those poor Students, they are young, easy prey, easy target, and they are paying the price!!!! Shame on you, the Government of Canada.. It is Scandalous.
