Globe and Mail presents Conservative Party dis-information courtesy of Preston Manning
by M. Lamoureaux
This commentary is further to The Globe and Mail's
Feature 'In Praise of Modesty' by Preston
Manning, published on April 7, 2006. In this feature,
Mr. Manning defined 'conservatism'. Well, at least
the American version of 'conservatism' that he, and
his Conservative Party entourage, and members of the
U.S. Republican Party subscribe to. Preston Manning
also indicated that the Conservative Party 'Throne
Speech' was excellent. And of course, the Globe and
Mail could not have chosen an more 'objective'
commentator on Mr. Harper's 'Throne Speech', than one
of the champions of the so-called "Unite the Right"
campaign. Mr. Manning went on to further try to
convince Globe and Mail readers that Stephen Harper
represents a triumph of modesty and moderation. Fancy
eh, those words coming from you Mr. Manning.
Mr. Manning making statements praising 'modesty' and
"moderation", is kind of like the Klu Klux Klan
correspondingly praising someone for their
'multicultural' and tremendous human rights
perspective.
Mr. Manning is an apparent ultra-right wing ideologue,
who co-authored with former Ontario Premier Mike
Harris apparent support for the annexation of Canada
by the United States via a "commercial union". This
co-authored Orwellian-like "newspeak" document was
ironically called something like "True North Strong
and Free".
Mr Manning professes to be a Christian. However his
substantive worship which is aimed at the 'Almighty
Dollar' with an emphasis on U.S. Dollars, that are
associated with U.S. Big Business interests. He could
be viewed as an apparent religious hypocrite. Like
other neo-conservatives, Mr. Manning and his entourage
turn their back on the plight of the poor in the
context of social justice, while cynically speaking of
Jesus and the Bible.
The Conservative Party of Canada is actually an
amalgamation of ultra-right wing interests, which
include members of U.S. transnational enterprises, and
Corporate Globalization oriented "think tank"
representatives, as well as racist and neo-fascist
interests. These interests are substantively
associated with an American neo-conservative ideology,
that are anything but "moderate" or modest". However,
you will not find such information in the Globe and
Mail, and other such corporate owned newspapers, which
ally themselves to the sell-out of Canada.
Ever since the beginning of the 2006 Federal Election
campaign, The Globe and Mail has been engaged
in trying to help bolster the public relations image
of Stephen Harper. The Globe and Mail has
increasingly become more strident in its
pro-Conservative editorial presentations, since the
election of a Conservative minority government in late
January 2006. It is unfortunate that the great
tradition of reasonably balanced journalism, that was
originally inspired by George Brown in the 1840's, has
now been replaced by Conservative Party
pamphleteering.
