| Greenhouse Emissions threaten Earth's vital Oxygen Supply By John Lafontaine
Carbon dioxide emissions projects like that which is associated with the Alberta Tar Sands are creating Global Warming, that is in turn destroying the Earth's vital ozone layer. What is much less well known, is that these same carbon dioxide emissions are threatening the Earth's oxygen supply that human and other species depend upon for basic survival. Dr. Fred Bell who is a representative of The Consumer Health Organization of Canada indicates that a million years ago, the oxygen-level on this planet was over 40%. He further reports that "During World War II, the oxygen level on this planet was 34%." Today, reports indicate that the atmosphere of the planet is less than 18% oxygen. In order to survive, learned scientists further suggest that the human body needs to breathe an atmosphere which has at least 15% oxygen content. That is basic biology. Scientists suggest that unless humans change their ways away from the continued abuse of planet Earth, humans have less '10 to 15' of oxygen left. The research findings of scientists have been marginalized by the political Establishment. These include the Stephen Harper government in Canada, which is financially supported by carbon dioxide emission abusers in oil-rich Alberta, and other parts of Canada, and also in the Bush regime south of the border. Bloc Québécois Gilles Duceppe observed that the Harper Government non-plan on Greenhouse Emissions is "made in Alberta, written in Washington." Liberal Leadership candidate Stéphan Dion, a former environment minister, said "it is a shameful abdication by Canada, and we must rectify it as soon as possible."
Scientists further allege that untapped "free clean energy [as an alternative to the use of fossil fuels and other pollution creating energy systems like nuclear power] has been withheld from us." The ability of humans to save their own oxygen supply from further catastrophic depletion is being undermined by a Consortium of interests who are pursuing financial-equivalent "riches" and power at any cost; and that apparently includes the cost of destroying human quality-of-survival on planet Earth. The new book entitled 'Quality-of-Living and Human Development as the Outcome to Economic Progress', ISBN: 1897036353, provides an illuminating basis for rejuvenating Earth's economic system away from an apparent on-going course of environmental-precipitated Global Warming self-destruction.
