Aloe Vera -- Heals Burns and Inhibits Cancer

Aloe Vera been celebrated for it’s medicinal benefits for over 6000 years, beginning in ancient Egypt where it was known as the plant of immortality. It was prescribed to treat various health issues from insomnia, baldness, bad digestion and even cancer. Today, its healing properties when applied topically to the skin are recognized as especially potent. Conditions as wide ranging as eczema, psoriasis, burns and irritations are treated with this medicinal plant.

Aloe Vera is also considered to be a super food by many health practitioners when taken orally. It’s proven potency as an antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and antioxidant make it a primary choice for natural health enthusiasts. This humble looking plant is filled with substantial amounts of vitamins and minerals.

In India, a study was conducted on Swiss albino mice suffering from stage-2 skin carcinogenesis. The scientists wanted to test Aloe Vera's effectiveness when employed either topically or orally. They immediately noted that when DMBA and croton oil were used exclusively on test subjects, tumors developed in 100% of cases. Conversely, the mice that were given a form of Aloe Vera were up to 60% less likely to develop tumors. Researchers were convinced that the chemo preventive activity of Aloe Vera stems from its high concentrations of antioxidants, glutathione peroxidase, several isozymes of superoxide dismutase, selenium, zinc and polysaccharides.

For everyday use, researchers have revealed that applying Aloe Vera to burns can heal skin tissue damage up to nine days faster. In one study, burns healed in less than sixteen days using the medicinal plant, while by comparison, it took at least nineteen days for silver sulfadiazine, a synthetic drug, to have the same effect.

To make the most out of the natural benefits of this super food, try growing your own Aloe Vera plant at home. Aloe Vera thrives indoors and outdoors, providing you with your own natural source. Choosing natural sources such as Aloe Vera and Garcinia Cambogia extract and limiting the amount of synthetic drugs is an important step towards holistic health.
