India, notably, has a good number of right-thinking people, the likes of Arundhati Roy, Shanti Bhushan, Justice Tarkunde, Kuldeep Nayyar and a large number of good Samaritans who feel the pain of suffering millions in Kashmir; and in an extrovert manner support the fair demand of leaving Kashmir alone.
Anna Hazare’s lieutenant Shanti Bhushan, in the recent past, was brutally attacked in his office by a stalwart of militant Hindu outfit, Bajrang Dal, beaten to the pulp for supporting the cause and reminding the occupiers that India has no right to be in Kashmir.
In its issue of Dec.18-31, 2010, the Hindu Weekly quoted Arundhati Roy, a human right activist, stressing that Kashmir had never been an integral part of India and described the struggle in Kashmir as a struggle for justice. Her speech is notable for linking the struggle in Kashmir with the struggles elsewhere in India. She further elaborated:
"So often the Indian government, the Indian state, the Indian elite, they accuse the Naxalites of believing in protracted war, but actually you see a state – the Indian state – that has waged protracted war against its own people or what it calls its own people relentlessly since 1947, and when you look at who are those people that it has waged war against – the Nagas, the Mizos, the Manipuris, people in Assam, Hyderabad, Kashmir, Punjab – it's always a minority, the Muslims, the Tribals, the Christians, the Dalits, the Adivasis, endless war by an upper-caste Hindu state, this is what is the modern history of our country. She suggested that perhaps the Delhi Police should posthumously file a charge against the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, too, for what he had reportedly said about Kashmir. She cited 14 instances of Jawaharlal Nehru's reported remarks on various occasions to suggest that Kashmir has never been an integral part of India."
She added that "Anybody who cares to read the transcripts of my speeches will see that they were fundamentally a call for justice. I spoke about justice for the people of Kashmir who live under one of the most brutal military occupations in the world."
It is not hard to envision India’s bellicosity in the light of its inveterate meddling behavior to intimidate and browbeat the independent sovereign nations in the neighborhood. Pakistan as is known is India’s unfinished agenda and, in the likeness of Saddam’s bent of mind, believes the nuclear power to be its break-away part that needs to be annexed.
Bangladesh, though India’s brainchild and a catalyst in its creation, is being harassed through everyday border skirmishes displaying a "superpower" hegemony to coerce little nation into submission, political and economic subjugation.
One thousand Kilo meter long Friendship Highway, from Kathmandu to Lhasa, was constructed by China in 1986 and on the day in goodwill gesture China offered one hundred truck loads of arms and ammunition to Kathmandu. This raised alarm bells in Indian political circles and enhanced political interference became order of the day. Soon after, in the following year, for example, a sub-inspector of India’s Uttar Pradesh police crossed over to Kathmandu, arrested a wanted petty burglar in India and returned with the catch without informing authorities in Kathmandu what was involved.
Sri Lanka faced with Tamil insurgency imported from India’s disgruntled south created havoc and this peaceful small Island was close to breakdown and collapse. India managed a political maneuvering and engaged then Sri Lanka Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike to allow Indian Peace Keeping Force to land on its soil. The very act sent shivers through the spine of politically conscious Sri Lankans and hoped to see a quick retreat of ‘IPKF’ through some divine intervention. India, through mounting international pressure, was asked to leave quickly without prolonging its stay. It was a joyous moment all over Sri Lanka.
The process was repeated in Maldives to render help to crush an insurgency and rebellion against the ruling government. Again, succumbing to international pressure India had to make a quick exit.
The tiny land-locked Kingdom of Bhutan lives under a perpetual threat from its mighty neighbor and has to follow a controlled political management, day to day affairs and its foreign policy based on the diktats from New Delhi.
It is beyond comprehension to see USA pampering India offering it financial help, nuclear technology, engaging Bill Gates and associates to create hundreds and thousands of jobs to give a fillip to India’s economy and military might on the pretext of India’s non-existent support for "war on terror". In response, Satish Chandra a gloating braggart on Nov 05, 2010 on www.sify.com wrote as follows:
"India's nigger-slave, traitor service chiefs who are constantly talking of threats from India's 'neighbors' must be shot on the spot. The United States is EVERYBODY's neighbor. It has already invaded and occupied Afghanistan, a part of traditional India and will expand its occupation to the rest of the subcontinent. Was Britain India's neighbor? I am India's expert in strategic defense and the father of India's strategic program, including the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan means the coast-to-coast destruction of the U.S. by India; see my blog titled 'Nuclear Supremacy For India Over U.S.' which can be found by a Yahoo search with the title for steps I have already taken for the nuclear destruction of New Delhi and then the coast-to-coast destruction of the U.S. and extermination of its population. Russia and other white countries are U.S. allies. These are the enemies to destroy. All other enemies will be taken care of automatically. Conventional arms are worthless for destroying the United Sates. Nuclear arms to destroy the United States with a FIRST STRIKE -- this is the key -- are cheap and easy to produce with technology India already has. Prepositioning by its special forces a couple of nuclear bombs in Washington and New York and letting the world know we have done so will give India freedom to test thermonuclear weapons designs, ICBMs, etc., as much as it wants, though India already has this freedom but for the nigger-slaves. Alternatively, twenty kiloton bombs can be prepositioned in the largest U.S. cities and then Washington and New York destroyed with the warning that additional U.S. cities will be destroyed if there is any retaliation. The nuclear destruction of New Delhi -- without waiting -- is all that is needed to make India win."
India with a track-record of friendships of convenience and betrayals on an international level started marriage with Soviet Union for a lasting relationship that gave India a big industrial infrastructure and nuclear capability; a boost in its economy taking refuge in rupee payment barter system offered conveniently by erstwhile Soviet Union. India owes Russia trillions and trillions of Rupees lying in Indian bank accounts and finds it hard to come out of the Russian dragnet. Above all India earned much needed Soviet Union; UN Security Council Veto’s to hold the grip on Kashmir.
India simultaneously harped on a new relationship as a “non-aligned nation” involving President Nasser of Egypt and Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia managing successfully to give wrong signals to the International community by having a bonded relationship with one and playing the ‘non-aligned’ card at the same time.
It is high time that the world takes stock of India’s intrigues, machinations and puts a restrain on the designs it has towards international community in general and its neighbors in particular. Kashmir has suffered enough and the living population turned into psychological wrecks cannot even complain to express the damage done by one million Indians in uniform armed with lethal weapons. The Indian army is spread in the lanes, by lanes, nooks and corners of Kashmir to confine people behind their doors. The process of hoodwinking and managing to put a lid on atrocities committed allows India create a situation on the international level to give an impression that all is honky-dory in Kashmir.
