Solve Kashmir: Ban Ki Moon

"The Secretary-General is obviously following developments quite closely. And we would simply reiterate the call for the need for dialogue to help to overcome the difficulties that there are," Martin Nesirky, Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s spokesperson told reporters at the daily briefing. (Zee News February 13, 2013).

The continuous military curfews for weeks on added three more deaths to a distressing one hundred thousand and unspecified number of people injured in clashes between people and Indian army. Kashmiri populace has vowed to fight occupation using all criterions and methods that the international community accepts and legitimizes.

Afzal Guru, a medical student, implicated in Indian parliament attack hanged in Indian capital’s Tihar jail (February 09, 2013) was accorded ‘justice’ as Kashmiris forcefully registered his innocence and consider it as another judicial murder. This is the second such hanging after Kashmir’s popular freedom movement leader Maqbool Bhat was hanged (February 11, 1984) and buried in the precincts of same Tihar jail. When Nesirky was reminded of the humanitarian aspect of the hanging of Guru; he intriguingly replied "I have no comment on that".

FS Nariman, an Indian eminent jurist, from a humanitarian aspect reacted on Guru’s manner of execution saying "Our worst enemies couldn't have done it better. The way it was done. It was unfortunate. I am sure they (Indian government) did not think it out." Nariman further said that he would be "greatly embarrassed" if he was in the government. "I wouldn't be able to answer truthfully," he said and shared the view that it was a "blot on our democracy and our sense of justice system".

Turning the pages of history; Kashmir has faced betrayal after betrayal from outside forces, friends and foes to subjugate and rule with an iron fist supported and backed by deceit, fraud and lies. Towards the end of sixteenth century (October, 1586) Mogul Emperor Akbar invited Kashmir’s King Yousuf Shah Chak to Delhi for talks as Akbar was miserably defeated by Chak forces nine times repulsing all Mogul attacks. Akbar treacherously imprisoned the Kashmir King who later died in the prison and was buried in Muzaffarpur, Bihar (India).

The remains of three martyrs of Kashmir Yousuf Shah Chak, Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and now Muhammad Afzal Guru all victims of conspiracies buried in India, have places reserved and earmarked to be moved to where they belong, in near future. Kashmiri people offering huge sacrifices deeply feel as their duty to have the remains of their beloved leaders shifted as the first priority soon after achieving the cherished independence.

It is generally believed, in Indian political circles, by academicians, intellectuals, writers, human-right activists that minority Indian powerbrokers maintaining its track record committed gross violations of human rights and in Guru’s case kept the family and Kashmiri nation in dark disallowing them even to perform the last religious rites at the burial site. The decision to hang a man on the basis of circumstantial evidence is unparalleled and many in India believe the hurried execution of an innocent man to be a dastardly act fulfilling some hidden political agenda.

The skullduggery and the brazen arrogance, holding millions of Kashmiris as political hostage by giving a freehand to its army crushing defenseless people is something international community does not come to the terms with. The nuclear bombs and one million strong army; equipped with sophisticate conventional weapons makes India invincible and perhaps "incredible".

The Hindu reports that the goons of an offshoot of BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) Bajrag Dal, its militant wing clashed and beat up Kashmiri students in New Delhi (February 09, 2013). The students were peacefully protesting against the hanging of their role model leader Afzal Guru. The Hindu militant terror wings under the patronage of army and police get a free hand to pounce on minorities to browbeat and intimidate, culminating in killings, rapes and looting of anything of value.

The diabolical burning of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Stains and his two sons, Timothy and Phillip at Manoharpur village in Keonjhar, Orissa, India (January 23, 1999), is a glaring example of ruthlessness with which Hindu terrorist Bajrang Dal activists locked father and two sons in their own van and set them alight. While the gory drama was on, the bravado shown by few cowards was cheered and applauded by all around present in the area. It is very unfortunate that such a heinous crime received a very little coverage even in western media.

Government of India’s intellectual bankruptcy messed up the political decision to hang an innocent, a court decision based on circumstantial evidence and spiteful venomous narratives of emotional blunting mindset of Hindu terror groups leading to potential grave consequences for the State of Kashmir. Imposing continues military curfews, gagging of Face-book pages, Twitter, YouTube and indefinite curbs on internet exposed India’s perfidious intentions and desperate handling of Kashmir’s volatile political situation.

United Nations Military Observers Group (UNMOG) stationed in Kashmir is a constant irritant to echelons of political power in India. Intended surgical strike to wrest Kashmir’s part held by Pakistan and or more importantly gain access to Central Asia’s energy resources through a corridor connecting Kashmir with Afghanistan is a do or die situation; which for the time being has been blocked by China’s presence in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

The loud and clear writing on the walls of Kashmir is misread by the minority ruling elite of India and ignoring the calls made by majority right-thinking souls upholding human and political rights results in frustration. Columnist Swaminathan Aiyar of New Delhi who wrote in The Times of India "We promised Kashmiris a plebiscite six decades ago. Let us hold one now, and give them three choices: independence, union with Pakistan, and union with India. Let Kashmiris decide the outcome, not the politicians and armies of India and Pakistan."
