On his recent visit to Kashmir [Oct 4, 2012], the crown prince of Gandhi political Kingdom introduced business heavy-weights of India to Kashmiri students with an aim to build not business, but in desperation a futile attempt to give "impetus to long term relation of lost trust" between India and Kashmir. The reasons, if any, for the lost trust have not been disclosed?

The mounting International pressure has unnerved India, to restore people of Kashmir their right of self-determination as guaranteed by United Nation Security Council Resolutions and promised by Indian leaders now in oblivion. It is worrisome for the world body to see Indo-Pak problems multiply and the fears that the confrontation might lead to a nuclear war engulfing the whole world. While the sweet talk of improving bi-lateral relations to ward off International concern is on; the skirmishes on cease-fire line in Kashmir, as reported, are a regular affair:

Associated Press quoting Washington Post, October 16, 2012 reports Indian military spokesman Col. Brijesh Pandey saying Pakistani forces fired mortars into the Uri sector on the "Indian" side of Kashmir killing three civilians.

Indian Zee News reports October 18, 2012 quoting Indian army sources that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire 23 times in the past two months and repeated incidents have triggered panic on ceasefire line.

NDTV quotes Press Trust of India (October 20, 2012); in several cases of ceasefire violation this year in October, Pakistani troops fired forward border belts in Kashmir killing army and destroying property. India showing "restraint" asked Pakistan to respect the ceasefire, saying guns were no solution to any issue and "...We also have guns and mortars. If we also start firing, where will this stop?"

The terrorism infested disturbed Pakistan a soft target is used to divert the attention of a volatile situation within India. The world is concerned about India’s gross human right violations through length and breadth of India assuming dangerous proportions; the number of killed runs in a few million.

It is widely believed the "Prince’s" visit is to mislead the international community and making these high profile visits, India hopes, might allow cleanse murky waters. The delegation went to Kashmir University, perhaps, to make students believe that each one of them is a future Tata, Birla or a Bajaj; though the office of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce was not far from Indian visitor’s secured accommodation and Kashmiri businessmen were intriguingly ignored. How could Indian business tycoons help build a "relationship of trust" with University students defies logical explanation?

A student claiming anonymity on the University Campus quipped "The promises made by business tycoons are nothing but the part and parcel of India’s neo-colonialist agenda aimed at paving way for capitalism."

Rattan Tata expressed a desire to expand his business activities to Kashmir but did not elaborate on his allayed fears as to how the intended feats to be performed, were addressed now after 65 years of Indian occupation. What Tata does not realise is that Rahul, as claimed by Tata, has opened a window of this so called opportunity but does not realise that the door is firmly shut. The under-populated Kashmir is blessed with a fertile human wealth and it knows it can help contribute towards making the world a peaceful and better place to live for all as the upbringing taught Kashmiris to be peaceful, loving and caring. Tata "relived his memories of a stay in a Houseboat in Nigin Lake" and as a matter of fact Kashmir is known for its philanthropy, kindness and hospitality.

The picturesque natural serene environment of Kashmir University, a seat of learning, was converted into a garrison fortress to make "princes" visit look like a normal and routine affair. Two generations of Kashmiris wiped out, thousands of young teenage stone-pelting youth rotting in prisons, leadership either imprisoned or under house-arrest; continuous curfews and the attempt to erase memories amounts to a behaviour having no qualms, conscience or compunction.

It is reported the students protested against Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Kashmir University; raised pro-Kashmir, pro-freedom, anti-India and anti-state slogans, and demanded Rahul’s exit from the campus. The protests, which started almost simultaneously to his entry into the convocation complex, lasted till late afternoon. When the police intercepted them from moving towards the convocation complex, they stopped, circled the area and loudly started singing the Pakistani national anthem.

Rahul Gandhi used a new ploy with a sentimental touch to claim his ancestry to Kashmir but forgot to mention that his lineage identity in plain and simple terms is a combination traced to Parsi and Catholic Christian blood which, perhaps, he should be proud of.

"I want to establish a relationship, empathise with you and understand your pain. And I want Kashmiris to be part of growing India." Rahul the son of Indian soil should have thrown some light and reflected on the pain inflicted on Kashmiris by "valiant" Indian army.

A local daily newspaper editorial makes a mention of Rahul’s visit in the following words:

"Rahul had nothing new to offer to the Kashmiris, he just wanted to sell the old wine in new bottle. This speaks volumes about the level of trust India has so far been able to develop in Kashmir."

Rahul visited Kashmir last year as well to rope in students to lure them with dream of Kashmir’s better future with India, Indian "economic miracle" and so called copycat filthy Bollywood but avoided to ask University authorities as to why student activities have been banned for years on. Even Kashmir University Student’s Union (KUSU), is not allowed to operate on the campus as it has been banned for many years now.

Historically speaking, Mother Nature has always been kind to Kashmir as people have been bestowed richly with food, clothing, shelter and other natural resources in abundance and no populist measure smeared with glitter and sheen motivates them to compromise on the basic demand of fundamental right of self-determination. Indian army has always been frustrated to see resilient Kashmiris survive even after imposition of military curfews for months on.

Rahul Gandhi, it is reported, pledged to do his bit in building a long-term relationship with the youth to fulfil their aspirations; perhaps he heard the cries loud and clear the youth in question shouting Hum kya chahtein; azaadi. (What is it we want? Freedom)
