Militants strike in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Suspected militants hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force picket in volatile Sopore town, some 55 kms from summer capital Srinagar of Jammu & Kashmir.

Sources told that unknown militants hurled a grenade in the main market this morning.

A trooper identified as Surinder Kumar received minor injuries, some reports said. However Police said there was no damage in the blast.

"The militants hurled a grenade at CRPF picket near Sopore bus stand, but there was no damage in the incident," SP (Sopore) Imtiyaz Hussain said.

The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road, Hussain added.

The explosion caused panic among the passersby who ran for their safety.
