Canadians can now bet on global lotteries including U.S. Powerball with Lottoland

Winning a lottery can be all it takes to live the life of your dreams by getting those extra zeros in your bank account.

For many Canadians, asides from gauging their own luck, the thrill of playing, the anticipation of the results and the big wins every now and then is something to look forward to. However, despite the lottery being in existence in Canada since the ’80s, there hasn’t been a way to play both the Lotto and other international lotteries without leaving Canada.

Now, a Gibraltar-based company has opened its online lottery jackpot shop for business in Canada, specifically to tackle this problem.  Thanks to this company you can now play Mega Millions legally from Canada.

Lottoland Canada is giving Canadians the chance to bet and win on some of the world’s largest jackpots online, including the EuroMillions, MegaMillions and the U.S. Powerball jackpot—all with a mouth-watering prize money of over $500 million.

With Lottoland, all you need to do is register and get access to numerous international lotteries right from their website. The easy-to-use interface has all the information you need, and a great amount of care has been taken to ensure that the online experience is similar—and even better—than if players were to visit each location personally.

Unlike physical lottery tickets, Lottoland can be accessed via a smartphone, tablet or computer and implements a technology that digitally tracks plays and results for users.

Lottoland offers a unique mode of play in that users bet on which numbers will be drawn, rather than purchasing a ticket through an official lottery operator.

The company would then pay the same amount that the actual lotteries pay if a verified user picks the correct numbers.

According to Nigel Birrell, CEO of Lottoland, the company now serves more than six million players worldwide and has paid out winnings of more than $1.25 billion to date.

“We’re not your grandma’s lottery,” said Birrell in a news release. “Lottoland is powered by digital innovation and the freedom of choice to dream bigger.”

Securing your information online is usually one important factor when registering on any platform and as the site explains, “Lottoland works very hard to verify your information.”

The site has a multi-verification process that will ensure that you confirm your identity and age before giving you a pay-out. However, in the rare case that a player has immediate luck and wins a lottery before completing the verification process, Lottoland will hold onto the winnings until they complete your verification.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is roughly 1 in 292 million and it gets even higher with Mega Millions as the odds of winning that is 1 in 302.6 million. But, if you’re buying both lottery tickets with the hopes that you’ll be twice as lucky and win the Powerball and Mega Millions, you might need to be one extraordinarily lucky individual, as according to CBS, your chances of winning Mega Millions and the Powerball are one in 88 quadrillion.

According to strategic statistician Amram Shapiro, he told Time that lottery ticket holders have a better chance of “being killed by an asteroid, getting struck by lightning, being murdered on a trip to the Grand Canyon, becoming a movie star or dying from chronic constipation,” than winning the lottery.

Nonetheless, with Lottoland now giving Canadians the opportunity to play these international lotteries without having to travel to purchase tickets, taking the leap in a bid to win $1.5 billion becomes a lot easier to do.
