The city of Ottawa is looking for internet service providers, who will be willing to provide free Wi-Fi at different locations across the city. The locations include government buildings, swimming pools, skating arenas and other recreational centres.
According to Tim Tierney, the chairman of the city committee, the service providers will not be paid any remuneration for providing free Wi-Fi. Instead, he wants them to earn their incentives by being creative. He says that the incentives will mostly include advertising opportunities, as the service provider will get a lot of exposure through this endeavor.
Mr. Tierney says that the city wants the internet service providers to get involved. He also says that he is willing to listen to any other business idea, which will make it worthwhile for the service providers to provide free Wi-Fi.
The list of places that can benefit from this initiative include the ByWard Market Building, the Ottawa City Hall and various other community centers across the city. Read more..
