Harper Government fails Canadian Health Council

The Harper Government has given signals to the health ministers across the nation that it is going to cease the funding programs of the Canadian Health Council. It is trying to save about six million dollars by winding the Health Council down.

The message is loud and clear that the Harper Government is least bothered about national Medicare facilities. Ever since the Council was set up a decade ago, it has encouraged good ideas in the public health care system so that the accessibility to various services in and out of hospitals could be maintained.

By taking such a step, the Canadian health ministry is compromising the access of Canadians to comparable health services in long term health care and rehabilitation.
