Canada is regarded as one of the most progressive nations in the world. In fact, Canadians are known to be helpful towards fellow human beings. They have even empowered their governments to protect civil liberties around the globe through enacting legislations and laws and helping to solve the global refugee crisis.

Despite being socially progressive, Canadians are not always politically and socially active in standing with fellow Canadians whose civil liberties and rights have been violated. They do not seem to be as active as the citizens of other industrialized nations, when it comes to safeguarding the rights of their fellow citizens.

Watch the video above and you will come to know of the plight of an elderly woman in Ottawa, Canada.  For more than a year, her husband has blocked visitation access to her son. However, her plight was ignored by the people at large as no one came to her help. Even the so-called mainstream media failed to cover her story. 

This elderly woman wrote notes when she could write that she was being abused.  One note reads - "Dad abuses me!” 

Her cries and pleas to the Ottawa Police Services were simply ignored. 

Even her own friends and relatives did not come to help her although they were made aware of her plight. She essentially became a prisoner in her own home – losing her ability to talk, walk and write at the hands of her abuser but no one came to her assistance except her son. 

Raymond, who is shown in the video, has not seen his Mom since 12 June 2015 -- more than a year ago!  Her husband, Horace Carby-Samuels, had also blocked an Ottawa Hospital from providing her speech therapy support.  As a result, Raymond's Mom lost the ability to speak.  The verifiable evidence of Horace's abuse of rights and neglect is contained in litigation brought by Raymond against his Mom's husband pursuant to Court File - 15-66772.

One has to wonder why the Ottawa Police failed to help this woman despite her repeated pleas for help. Horace Carby-Samuels has been accused of diabolically blocking her son from defending her rights by lying to police that her son suffered from "mental illness" that made him violent.  It has been claimed that this lie was designed to ensure that the Ottawa Police Service would not listen to the son's representation concerning the abuse of his Mom that has now continued for more than a year.
