UFO and alien sightings reports in Africa are not very publicised, but the following case caused several reactions not only in the African continent, but around the world.

According to a report published on British online news site The Sun on 04 March, “a bizarre human-like figure” was seen hovering over some storm clouds in the city of Kitwe, Zambia.

“A bizarre human-like figure appears to have been spotted in the clouds above a shopping centre”, stated The Sun. “Images circulated on social media show the huge shape, which bears a resemblance to the evil ‘dementors’ in the Harry Potter series” it continued.

An unnamed witness affirmed that due to the rarity of the event, some people “started worshipping”.  “Some started worshipping but others ran away. It was so strange”, this person said.

Another witness added: “We were shocked to see images that looked like a human in the clouds for close to 30 minutes”.

Some reports affirmed that the odd figure remained hovering in the sky for over 30 minutes. Some estimate that it was 100 metres long.

However, several internet users have reacted with scepticism. Many of them believe that the images could have been modified using editing software like Adobe Photoshop.

In reference to this event, UFO researcher and writer Scott C. Waring, of UFO Sightings Daily, opined that the figure is real and frightening.

“Imagine a giant figure floating above you”, Mr Waring said. “This figure appears to be about half a mile tall with a long, slender, dark body”, he added.

In his opinion, the floating humanoid shape is nothing less than an alien. “This is a very tall alien. The being is so tall they are afraid to walk for fear of hurting someone”, he wrote. “So instead, they float above, watching the people below and their reactions”, he continued.

“Size in this universe seems to have no limits”, the ufologist commented.
