Toronto: Man Shot dead in Scarborough's Malvern Community






The second shooting incident that occurred this Sunday 23 July in the Scarborough's Malvern community involving an unidentified suspect.

One man is dead after the evening shooting in the neighbourhood.

Earlier in the morning less than a kilometre away from the incident, another shooting had occurred in the backyard where two men were killed and one woman was seriously injured.

It happened around 6:45 pm local time in the area of Empringham Dr. and McLevin Ave. , north of Morningside Ave. and Sheppard Ave E. said Toronto Police Constable Allyson Douglas-Cook.

She told that the residents of the area called the police after gunshots were heard. They had received multiple calls prior the police reached the scene.

When the officers reached the scene they found a man, who was in his early 20s lying motionless on the ground. The man didn't seem to have any vitals and was pronounced dead by the paramedics after they did try to save his life, attempting life-saving measures told Dep. Commander Evert Steenge.

Police Constable Allyson Douglas-Cook said that the homicide unit is investigating the incident. There is no word yet on any suspects.

People are urged to call the police or crime stoppers if they have any information with this regards.

Siyao Peng said she heard the sound of screaming about ten minutes before police cars descended on the area. She was shocked when she heard there had been a shooting.

"That really scared me," said Peng, who only moved to the area in June. " I have a baby now. I'm just about to deliver and I don't want my baby to live in this area."

The fatal shooting took place just minutes away from a double-homicide that took place at a backyard barbeque party in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is unknown if the incidents are related. Police are investigating all possibilities.
