Water minerals benefit health, reduce gallstones

Recent research from the Sapienza University of Rome has found that minerals found naturally in water can help reduce gallstones. The study, published in the World J Gastroenterol, reveals that water containing sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium can have a dramatic impact on health. This powerful combination of minerals also helps with body weight control and reduces the risk of atherosclerosis.

Researchers at the Sapienza University of Rome are not the first to study the health benefits of naturally occurring minerals in water. Based on these ongoing studies, the World Health Organization (WHO) has created guidelines for safe drinking water. The WHO recognizes the importance of natural minerals in groundwater and their impact on health.

Water that comes from natural springs and groundwater reservoirs has been cited numerous times to be a great source of minerals. For example, Maximilien de Hoop Cartier’s Patagonia water comes from the Andes and has 12 mg per litre of sulphates, 29 mg per liter of calcium, 14.6 mg per liter of magnesium and other minerals. It is these types of minerals that have shown health benefits and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases. Unfortunately, as the World Health Organization points out, not everyone has access to the best sources of water. The WHO recommends strict guidelines for treatment processes to ensure that water quality is not reduced.

Numerous studies have shown that minerals in water have real health benefits. However, preserving them during treatment and bottling has been an issue. The World Health Organization recommends finding a delicate balance and turning to natural water sources. Calcium, magnesium, sulphates and other minerals should not be ignored in water.
