Anti-Aging: Raw Honey revitalises

What is so extraordinary about raw honey that it can vitalize your mind, body and spirit? Luella May answers that question while writing for Natural News. She is a natural health advocate. She also writes for Align Life and is the author of a book called `Cancer’s Natural Enemy’. She says that when we think of `raw’, we usually associate the word with preservation of important enzymes, minerals and vitamins like `raw’ vegetables.

She says, “Raw honey is honey that has not been heated, pasteurized or processed in any kind.” Raw honey could be termed as a food that forms alkaline containing natural enzymes and powerful antioxidants. These very nutrients are eliminated during the process of heating and pasteurization.

Dr. P.C. Molan, Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand, says, “Raw honey is that concentrated nectar of the flowers that comes straight to you from the extractor; it is the only unheated, pure, unpasteurized, unprocessed honey.” This honey can be used to fight acidity and indigestion. In combination with lemon juice and ginger, it can relieve nausea and give you energy.

The honey bottles that you pick up from the supermarkets do not contain raw honey.

It is commercial liquid or cream honey that has been pasteurised at a heat of seventy degrees Celsius and then treated by rapid cooling soon afterwards. It is filtered to look clean and smooth so that it appeals to you while it is also easier to package. This pasteurization chokes off the yeast cells in the honey and prevents fermentation. The enzymes are also partially destroyed.

Luella May, writing for Natural News, points out that comb honey is raw pure honey sections that are taken right from the hive from the wax comb of the honey bees without any additional handling involved. The comb honey is the most unprocessed form of honey. The bees fill up the hexagon kind of wax cells of the comb with their honey and then cap it with beeswax. Comb honey can be eaten like you chew a candy.

She adds further that raw honey has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. These properties help your body in digesting better. They also act as powerful antioxidants to strengthen the immune system, fight cancerous cells and ward off allergies.

DR. P.C. Molan, Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at Hamilton, has published his studies in the `Primary Intention’ Journal, Volume 6, No.4, stating that “the use of honey as dressing material for wounds is an ancient remedy which has been rediscovered now and is gaining interest as more reports of its effectiveness are getting published. The clinical observations that have been recorded are that the infection can be cleared fast and the inflammation and pain are reduced quickly. The sloughing of the necrotic tissue is stimulated to heal rapidly with minimum scarring.”

Raw honey has also been known to stabilize the blood pressure levels and balance the glucose levels in the body, calm the nerves and treat ulcers. To find out more about how raw honey can revitalize you, you may read further at these links given below.
