Indigestion is the most common word used by many of you. You may say that your stomach is upset or you are having a burning sensation in your chest or you may even say you feel bloated. These all are just the direct indication of indigestion.

Smaller meals at frequent time don’t let your body to build-up excess acid. Proper amount of acid build-up is essential for your digestive track to digest food, however if acid is build-up in excess it will cause inflammation and pain. So try to eat smaller meat.

 

3.      Avoid late-night eating:

 

Your body and your digestive track needs time to digest your food. If you eat late at night, then your body has less time to digest your night meal. After that you eat your breakfast. This all adds to your ingestion problem.

 

4.     Try to relax after meals:

 

If you are done with meals try to relax. Most you have a habit of eating and then directly landing onto the bed. This is not good because it press the contents harder against the LES, increasing the chances of reflux or indigestion. Thus try to relax for 20 minutes on your chair.

 

5.     Avoid spicy foods if they contribute to your indigestion:

 

Many of you had a habit of eating snacks before going to sleep. This should be also avoided. Snacks and spicy food at night time increases the risk of heartburn. Since these foods make LES food to come back upward and tend to produce too much of acid. Thus, try to avoid spicy food especially at night time.

 

6.     Don't smoke:

 

Stop smoking, in night or in daytime. Smoking is dangerous for you. It accelerates the chances of heartburn. There are many side effects of smoking such as it slows down the saliva production, it stimulates the stomach acid production and leaks the LES mechanism

 

7.      Avoid or minimize intake of coffee and alcoholic beverages:

 

When you had alcohol intake before going to sleep, there are the same problem as that of smoking cause. It is going to raises acid level in your stomach and it is going to slow down your saliva production. So try to avoid it, if not possible try to minimize at least.

 

8.     Keep a food diary to help identify items that trigger indigestion:

 

There are some foods which are not good for someone and for someone it is good. It depends on your biological factor. So try to maintain a diary, in that diary mention the food you ate in the morning, then after lunch and finally in dinner. If you had indigestion, then analyze the dairy and the food you ate. This will help to separate the foods which are not suitable for you.
