Z-Prize: Young Leaders in Science Award goes to Nadezhda Tatevosova

(LONDON) -- The first Z-Prize awarded to Nadezhda Tatevosova for a project designed to prepare young leaders in science.

The organizers of the new Z-Prize in science today announced that the first grant in response for a call for proposals for promoting science was awarded to the international team lead by Nadezhda Tatevosova, MD-candidate at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The project was chosen from over two dozen proposals that were received from December 15, 2013 to January 15, 2014.

“Nadezhda Tatevosova proposed a project with the highest return on investment as it required just the start up funds to set up an organization. She already had a team and an ambitious but solid plan. It is rare to see a team of young medical professionals with such level of enthusiasm, who are willing to change the paradigms in the biomedical field.” - said Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, the Director of the Biogerontology Research Foundation.

Nadezhda Tatevosova and her team, received $3,000 to fund their proposal, codenamed Alpha-Delta-Tau-Chi to establish a non-profit organization, the International Center for Development of Young Leaders in Science (ICDYLS). The aims of ICDYLS are to provide young scientists with a training program in leadership, entrepreneurship and science PR.

“We are very excited to have our work and ideas recognized and funded. This prize will enable us to set up a non-profit organization that will help the new generation of biomedical professionals become great communicators, project managers and leaders in their field of research.” - said Nadezhda Tatevovova. “While competing the Z-Prize we met many interesting teams that decided to join us after we won and I am thankful to the organizers for this opportunity.”

The International Center for Development of Young Leaders in Science is a creative platform designed to help develop young professionals in science and foster teamwork and collaboration. The participants of ICDYLS will learn the essential skills in entrepreneurship, science PR, project management, international collaboration and leadership.
