Marois: Quebec City pursues provincial budget

The minority government of Pauline Marois will deposit its first budget on Tuesday, November 20th. The Minister of Finance and the Economy, Nicolas Marceau, made the announcement by means of press release, on Monday.

The presentation of a budget in autumn is not usual thing in history; it is necessary to go back up in November, 2001, when then Minister of Finance, Pauline Marois, had deposited a budget to stimulate economy of Quebec after 9/11 in the United States.

By jostling the agenda, the Péquiste government apparently wants to reassure the circles of business on the respect for its commitment to come back to balance in the budget in 2013-2014.

« Since the training of the government, we noted that the largeness of the rebound which we must perform makes us act fast. To wait in spring on 2013 would be only postponing identification and implementation of the actions which are necessary to delay Quebec on the way of balance in the budget for next year », explained the minister Marceau.

In the efforts of the Marois minority government to move toward a "zero deficit", a $1,6 billion "hole « attributable to overtakings of expenditure of programs and to a weaker economic fast growth than anticipated" must be "filled-up".
