Q. I'm 22, graduating soon, and moving to NYC. Not only am I a virgin, but I have never done anything below the belt. Is it just me, or will this not be acceptable outside of school, in real world dating situations?

A. Plenty of people move to New York City virgins. Just think -- not only will you moving to the Big Apple, but you'll be having tons of new experiences. Instead of losing your virginity in high school or college before you were ready, you'll be a young working professional in the big city. You'll meet new people, do fun things. And when you meet a guy who you are comfortable with, you'll hook up and maybe eventually loose your virginity when you're ready. If anything, people are probably jealous of you that your first time will be as a responsible adult and not a teenager or impressionable college student.

There's nothing wrong with being a virgin at 22. Focus on your new, exciting life in the city. As someone who has lived in the Big Apple for a long time, I can tell you that people come from all over with different levels of life experiences. It takes a while to become a jaded New Yorker. You will meet plenty of people who are similar to you, who aren't as sexually experienced for various reasons (waiting until marriage, just haven't met the right people, etc.). The great part about NYC is the wide variety of people you'll meet. (Despite what MTV says, sexed-up hipsters and wannabe Carrie Bradshaws guzzling apple-tinis.) Just be up front with guys you're dating and let them know you need to go slow. And remember -- you have plenty of time. Everyone moves at their own pace. Good luck!
