Love is ever changing. Particularly here, in 2012, humanity is witnessing an evolution of love as society begins to open their minds to the LGBTQ community and come out of their ignorance. One covert type of love that has yet to be brought to light is the romantic affair between two people who are not participating in sexual intercourse. This is the uncommon intimacy between a gay man and a straight woman.
Presently, it's not something that's discussed because it has always been thought of as the problem. After all, there have been many people who were suppressed in straight marriages for years. What's the difference? The subtle difference between these two relationships is this: one actively involves hiding your identity within a partnership, and the other (the latest change I'm proposing) involves simply being who you are with delight.
It's the new type of love that has emerged. According to several theories based on The Aquarian Age, it's an advanced love that fits into our evolving society, where people will be focusing less on sexual relations but on true partnerships and confidence. In a time where divorce rate is over fifty percent, the world is finally beginning to make changes. We're shifting from an old state of mind, with the seeking of relationships for sexual gratification, to focus more on the search for a withstanding partnership based on mutual respect and admiration. Hence the innovative love between opposing sexual orientations.
I was first enlightened to this notion when I was introduced to one shocking couple who had originally identified as best friends in September 2011, but partnered shortly after, realizing on a higher level that they were in fact meant to be together despite their sexual preferences. The reality that he was gay didn't seem to have a negative impact on their relationship, but rather seemed to enhance it. In fact, I see in them a more authentic love than I've seen in many of the couples that frequent society. Though the couple does not engage in sexual intercourse, they do share physical intimacy with kisses, hugs, and cuddles, to which they both express feelings of increased connection.
On a side note, as the body does have natural desires, there is a certain level of "openness" within their relationship that does allow for a third party member to spend the night.
Though this type of love faces many arguments from fear-consumed observers, it definitely has the potential to integrate with the social norm. This is an age of awareness, where to be unconsciously ruled by lust is not as satisfying as to be in conscious rule of love.
The reality of this world is that our children will be the most accepting of all generations. They are being born into a nation that has already fought for equality, freedom to love, and the right to enlighten ignorance. They will have the greatest opportunity to abandon the older generation's confusion with love and lust, constrictive religious background, and suppressed identity within a romantic relationship. We cannot predict that they will choose a connection with another human being that revolves largely around the higher self (rather than the more animalistic natures of humanity), but we can certainly say that there will be a place in society for this opportunity should they so choose. The path is already being forged.
