Sexting may not be all-bad

Sexting, whether good or bad is fast making its way in a number of relationships. According to the 2012 Canadian Living Sex Survey, about 36% of the respondents had sent a sexy video or photo to a partner, and the percentage is on a steady rise.

Sexting—sending seductive photos, text messages, or videos is a worrying trend for a number of parents and guardians. This is because some research has found that sexting is associated with teens engagement in risky sexual behavior such as having unprotected sex.

For the adult married or couple in a dating relationship, sexting may have some positive outcomes. According to a study that was conducted by Dr. Trent Parker and his colleagues at University of Kentucky, and published in The American Journal of Family Therapy, sexting is cited as an intervention method for couple’s therapy.

While sexting can result in a lot of heartache, especially following a breakup, it can also be a good thing to further cement a relationship. Take an example of an intimate partner who can’t bring themselves to say out loud in their partner’s face what they want. A suggestive sext can go a long way in bridging that particular gap.

It's recommended to ease into sexting so that it doesn’t leave you feeling awkward and unnatural. Start off with a flirt and work yourself up to full fledged sexting. Start your sext with affirmative sentences like ,”I want to….” rather than what can be perceived as a whine,” We never…”.

Does dirty talk intimidate you? No worries, go for stroking the ego, since sexy compliments can be even hotter than stroking that ahem.. “erotic” part of the body. Use punctuation and adjectives in a playful manner while sexting. Notice the difference between, ”I am hot right now.” and “I am hot right now!” It is recommended never to take photos that include your face, even if you trust your partner 100%. Rather, you can take up-close photos of that part you want to send, then playfully add a temporary tattoo in order to throw off any unwanted peepers.

In a bid to keep sexting safe and successful, you should make sure that the person you intend to sext wants the messages. You should delete the sexts after use from your device, especially if you have prying eyes that can access it like your children.

Remember to take your time while sexting, to avoid sending the right sext to the wrong person!

Happy sexting!!
