Gaming and Adult World Get New Link

We're not accustomed to seeing adult content at E3, as the show is usually reserved for gaming and consumer electronics of a more “appropriate” nature. However, with the advent of VR and virtual porn, that censorship was lifted enough to allow Naughty America to display its VR porn technology at this year's event. The company showed how close we are to having access to an interesting combination of gaming and pornography that will make viewing and engaging with adult content a more interactive experience all around. Needless to say, the booth did well and received loads of attention from attendees who were suddenly not so reluctant to partake in some good old-fashioned (or new-fashioned) adult fun.

VR Adult Video Sites Already on the Rise, Games in Development

There are already several sites that feature 360-degree video and VR content, and some sites are fully devoted to this new niche. In fact, it's not hard to find a VR porn tube that provides most of the same categories you would see on a regular adult site. Perhaps the more exciting aspect of VR porn that is drawing attention from the media is the possibility of virtual sex games. A number of VR production firms are already teaming up with game developers to produce adult role-playing games that will let you control the position and motion of your character during cyber intercourse.

Most Gamers Watch Porn

Statistically, gamers are known to watch more porn than non-gamers, and there have even been independent studies showing that certain consoles are used to watch different types of porn more than others. Apparently, PS4 owners also watch 3 times as much porn on their consoles than Xbox 360 owners, so for some reason the PS4 is the preferred gaming platform for adult content. The connection between porn and gaming likely stems from the fact that both are visually stimulating activities, along with the fact that gamers are typically technically inclined and are therefore more likely to have more browsing sessions, and thus more porn-watching sessions.

Will VR Make Porn More Common and Acceptable in the Mainstream?

Right now pornography is largely shunned by most of society in the open, despite the fact that a huge percentage of adults (especially men) view it in secret. It's like the unspoken form of entertainment that nobody likes to admit they enjoy, and yet it remains absurdly popular worldwide. Some analysts speculate that VR could make adult content more acceptable and common in modern culture, as it provides a more private method of viewing (you don't have to worry about someone peeking over your shoulder). Then there's the fact that this is a new technology that people are going to be eager to try out of curiosity, especially when the interactive gaming aspect of it. The appeal here might be too much for the tech industry to resist, which is one of the reasons it was allowed at E3.
