Toronto Raptors: Time is running out on Bryan Colangelos Tenure

With a record of 3-13, the Toronto Raptors season is sinking faster than the Titanic.  Six straight losses and consecutive blowout losses on the road, it's time to re-evaluate the franchise starting at the top with Bryan Colangelo.

Colangelo has had success in the past but his stint with the Raptors has been less than impressive.  His focus has been adding European players and although that does bring an entertaining style of basketball to the mix, European players are notorious for playing bad defence and being soft.  One only has to look at the defensive efforts of Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon.  Two leaders of the team who are good offensive players but can't play defense.  Bargnani being a 7 footer spends more time beyond the arc than he does in the post where a big man should play.

Colangelo needs to make some moves soon or it could be the end of his tenure with the Raps. He needs to add toughness to the roster, Kyle Lowry was a good addition but more needs to be done, a Charles Oakley, Antonio Davis type of player.  Bargnani and Caledron could be used in a trade to pick up a tough big man and a small forward.  Contending teams would love to have a player like Calderon coming off the bench as well as Bargnani.  With the abundant of young players, there is plenty of trade bait but the trigger needs to be pulled soon before the season is completely lost.

With five of their next six games on the road, something needs to be done.  They travel on a tough Western Conference road swing which could possibly see them come out at 4-18 and bound for yet another lottery season.  Colangelos job is on the line now.  With Toronto games almost always sold out, that could change quickly as fans become tired of losing year after year.  This is the defining point in his tenure as Raptors GM.  The once promising season can still be saved.  The ball is in his court.  And as Walter Gretzky once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take".
