Donald Trump Promises to Protect LGBTQ Rights

Donald Trump recently swore to protect the LGBTQ community from international threats and attacks against them. He raised the issue during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, while speaking on the fight against ISIS and the rate of terrorism in the country.

He also mentioned the recent attack on queer people on June 12, at Pulse night club in Orlando, claiming that he will protect them from similar violence.

"Only weeks ago, in Orlando, Florida, 49 wonderful Americans were savagely murdered by an Islamic terrorist. This time, the terrorist targeted LGBTQ community. No good. And we are going to stop it. As your president, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology. Believe me! And I have to say as a Republican, it is so nice to hear you cheering for what I just said. Thank you. "

He further urged the queer people to support him over Hillary Clinton because she is not an Islamophobic racist.

His speech was received with cheers and claps in the room, even though his party just approved a virulently anti-LGBTQ platform which includes almost everything from overturning marriage equality to support of dangerous conversion therapy and anti-trans bathroom laws.

But he has been gunning for the support of the LGBTQ community ever since the June 12 massacre, so squeezing them in on an anti-terror statement in a bid to make them feel safe at his hands is his only option.

As much as Trump and his party appears to be supporting LGBTQ community after last month’s shooting, majority of the people who were killed there were also Latinas, probably some were undocumented, who Trump has made known more than once that he will deport once he becomes President.

Although, he plans to protect the LGBTQ community from any foreign threat mostly from the Muslim community, you have to wonder who will protect them from his recent threats against them as well as the ones they face from the likes of him, the pious Christians, here in America.
