NBA sensations Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, and Andrea Bargnani will be assisting the Basketball Skills Challenge in support of Right to Play in Dundas, Ontario on March 17, 2012.

DUNDAS (WireService.ca) -- The Event Management students of Conestoga College are holding a free Basketball Skills Challenge in support of Right to Play, Saturday March 17, 2012 at the Dundas Lions Community Centre 10 Market St. S. 9am -1 pm.

Assisting in the skill challenges will be NBA basketball sensations Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash and Andrea Bargnani appearing in life size cut out forms. Parents and school aged children can drop by at any time taking 15 - 20 minutes to participate as a team or individual in the 5 Skill Challenges; vertical jump, pass, dribble, shoot and the grand finale - obstacle course, just like the NBA.

Free will donations of any amount can be made at the door (tax receipt provided) in hopes of raising $1000 for Right to Play supporting their efforts to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for development, health and peace. "The event fits well with the vision and mission of Right to Play as participants compete to better their skills and not directly against others. We are encouraging parents to do the challenges as a team with their children" said David Longo the event program manager.

Participants have the opportunity to win:

-- 2 Raptor vs Bulls tickets valued at $468.

-- Bargnani autographed basketball donated by MLSE

-- Life size cut out of Jeremy Lin

Dundas resident David Longo came up with the idea to honour his neighbour and friend John MacLennan; a local Physical Education Teacher and inductee into McMaster University’s Athletic Hall of Fame who unexpectedly passed away December 3, 2012 at his home in Dundas. The donation to Right to Play will be made in his memory.
