(WENN.com) -- Kelly Osbourne has become embroiled in a Twitter.com war of words with gay rights activists offended by her use of the word “tranny” during a recent interview about her ex-fiance’s affair with a transgender model.

The pop singer-turned-reality TV star opened up to Britain’s Glamour magazine about the humiliation she felt after learning her former husband-to-be, male model Luke Worrall, had cheated on her with Elle Schneider, who is awaiting gender reassignment surgery.

She said, “Everyone kept telling me that Luke was cheating on me, but I never believed them. It’s hard enough to get your head around someone cheating on you, but when someone is a chick with a d**k? Up until then, I’d always thought that the worst way to get cheated on would be with an ugly girl.”

Osbourne’s choice of words has landed her in trouble with members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, who have taken aim at her on Twitter.com.

The rock offspring has since apologized for describing Schneider as a “tranny” and a “chick with a d**k”, but insisted her remarks have been “misinterpreted”. That wasn’t enough for some angry LGBT supporters, who continued to taunt the Papa Don’t Preach singer online.

And their wrath has upset Osbourne.

In a series of tweets, she writes, “dont u (sic) dare accuse me of being against anything to do w/ (with) the LGBT community i have never given anything but 100 per cent of my support.

“i can only apologize if i offended u i have lots of transgender friends that like 2be (sic) called trannys... you should learn to fight the real fight not with people like me who love and fully support you! I APOLOGIZED. words can be misinterpreted please stop this it brakes (sic) my heart to think i have ever offended any1 (sic) that is lgbt... you should know that what you posted was not verbatim of what i said it was really taken out of context!”

And now Osbourne is turning to officials at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for help in clearing up the mess.

She continues, “I had no idea it was so wrong but I am making it my mission to fix my wrong! ...hand on heart I will make my wrong right no matter what it takes! just want to let everyone know that i am talking with the people glaad i will do anything I can to rectify this awful situation!”
