Paris: The City of Lights… and Love

Most girls dream of going to Paris and fall in love. But what is it really about Paris and the word “love”? Wasn’t Paris called the City of Lights? Then why did it come to be known as City of Love?

Paris, the capital city of France, is one of the most visited cities in Europe. It is the center of learning and arts, and also known for its fashion influence around the globe. Paris got its name “City of Lights” because it is one of the early cities that started street lighting. With the street lights being put up, it added to the beauty of the city and hence the name, City of Lights.

Paris came to be known as the City of Love later on when tourists visited the city and found out that Paris is the perfect romantic setting with its never-failing beauty at every corner. People around the world then spend their vacation in Paris with their loved ones, and seem to enjoy their stay. They then spread the word about their romantic getaway in Paris, thus it was then known as the City of Love.

Better way of enjoying your romantic getaway with your loved one is to check out the must-visits of Paris:

 ·         Eiffel Tower

You’re trip would not definitely be satisfactory without visiting this symbol of Paris. This is one of the most visited monuments not only in Europe but around the world.

·         Musee du Louvre

One of the largest museums around the world, and this is the museum where the original painting of Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci is being displayed.

·         Notre Dame de Paris

This is the perfect example of the beauty of French Gothic architecture. Due to its outstanding beauty, this cathedral was used as a setting to several films including the famous novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

·         Avenue des Champ-Élysées

Since Paris is known for its major influence in fashion, this avenue in the city is another most visited tourist destination due to a wide variety of shops and especially due to the Louis Vuitton store.

·         Shakespeare and Co.

For booklovers, this is certainly a happy place for them. This was where famous writers have gathered during 1920s. It is located across Notre Dame near Paris’ Left Bank.

The places mentioned above are just some of the most visited places in Paris. There are a lot more places in the city where you can enjoy your vacation, may it be romantic or not. Paris may be labeled as the City of Love, but it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to enjoy the city without your loved one or without any love life at all. Simply touring around the city will make you fall in love and, no doubt, you’ll agree that Paris is the City of Love.
