Austrian bearded lady wins song contest







Conchita Wurst, the Austrian drag queen, won the Eurovision Song Contest. According to her, her victory was actually a victory of love over the forces of intolerance, such as President Putin, who has banned homosexuality in Russia. Conchita received a very warm welcome back home, when she returned to Austria after being triumphant in the contest. Her success has been highlighted in most of the newspapers and magazines.

Conchita Wurst wore a tight dress, butterfly eyelashes, sported high heels and a fully bearded face. Her actual name is Tom Neuwirth. She clincher her victory from the opponents, after singing the "Rise Like a Phoenix" ballad in front of a massive audience. Her performance was watched by over 180 million people around the globe.

Conchita opined that her victory was not just for herself but for all those who are fighting against discrimination.

“I share the opinion that this was not a victory just for me but for the people who believe in a future that works without discrimination and is based on tolerance and respect. This transcends borders.”

The Eurovision Song Contest was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The organizers had made it clear that the theme of this year’s contest was tolerance. This is why, they hosted a rainbow colored flag which symbolizes gay pride. Conchita, who is openly Gay, told the crowd in Copenhagen that the movement she symbolizes was unstoppable.

She also clarified that her comment was directed against those politicians, who follow a policy of discrimination, including Vladimir Putin. She also commented that not all the people of Russia support Putin’s policy of discrimination as she received a lot of votes from Russia as well.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which is held annually, is known to have a lot of gay followers. They were pleased to know that ‘the bearded lady’ won the contest this year.
