Steven Seagal plays diplomat in real life

Steven Seagal got an opportunity to play diplomat in real life, as he leads a U.S. Congressional delegation on Moscow trip.  The main agenda of this 6-member delegation, which travelled to Russia, was to gather information about the two suspects of the Boston Bombings.  The delegation tried to find out if there was anything ‘specific’ which could have prevented the incident.

Segal is known to very popular in Russia and has a good rapport with some of the top officials there. In March 2013, Seagal even met Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia. Last week, he also paid a visit to the official residence of Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechnya. Kadyrov is the Head of the Chechen Republic and a former Chechen rebel.

Due to his deep connections in Russia, Steven Seagal was able to assist the Congressional delegation in their investigation of the two Boston suspects, brothers Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Steven Seagal even managed to arrange a meeting between the delegation and Dmitri Rogozin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. Rogozin was the highest ranking official, the delegation met during their Moscow trip.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who was a part of the delegation, praised Mr. Seagal for his efforts, according to an article published in Daily News.

"I don't know if he would have been available to us without Steven actually suggesting that he do that. We are very pleased that he opened up some doors for us so we could have some very high level discussions.”

Steven Seagal, who played a Russian diplomat in his 2009 film “Driven to kill”, has acted as an off-screen consultant more than once. Earlier in 2013, he teamed with Sheriff Joe Arpaio for training volunteers in active shooter training in a school in Arizona. Seagal himself is a deputy sheriff in Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. He has a 7th-dan black belt in Aikido.
